  • I don't really understand how this game works and the game doesn't do a good job of explaining it.

Did you include your Game Design Document in your downloadable files?
Yes

Tell us about your game!
My game has fairly simple mechanics such as movement, interactable NPC's, interactable objects, basics puzzles, and saving/loading features. I wanted to get a combat mechanic set up, but did not have the time! All the controls are on the GDD and in game at the start. Also, there is a simple puzzle room immediately north from where the game begins. This the basic idea of how my puzzles will work.

The story begins with a soldier in a kingdom's army. Their forefathers fought against an illness that ravaged the land and took many lives. The illness has returned and the soldier must assist their kingdom in destroying it once and for all. The soldier will be given missions which, with each completion, will offer more information about the truth behind the illness and their universe. As it turns out, the soldier lives in the mind of a human being. This human suffered trauma during their life and now has a mental illness such as, but not limited to: PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, and Paranoia. The soldier finds out that they are the illness. The soldiers and their kingdom represent depression, anxiety, and past traumas; the illness is happiness, serenity, and acceptance. At the end of the story, the soldier sacrifices themself along with the kingdom, allowing acceptance to spread, so the human can accept their past and move on.

Extra Notes
Thank you so much for the motivation and thank you for putting together this Game Jam. Prior to this, I was really struggling with things in my life and this gave me passion.

Thank you again,

Beautiful Game! I feel like there is a lot to be explored. But I would need more guidance. Some SFX would be nice too.

Developer

thank you so much!!! I wanted to get signs denoting paths and locations as well as giving guidance but it was overriding the dialogue in the game, so I scrapped it, but i do plan to add it back soon! Additionally, adding SFX was something I didn’t get around to before the two weeks ended 🥲 ill add it soon though!!
