I enjoyed the atmosphere-building a lot. Events made sense, though I think it will take me more time to "get" the right mindset to solve the puzzle I'm currently on. (It feels like the sort of game where said mindset does not mean "mind-read the author", which is good).

An impressive effort.

Fixes issues reported by Garry.

Sorry for all revisions - but needed to fix some critical issue.

Tired and time for food and - FOOTBALL!!!

Uploaded a newer version to my itch download page this morning at 10.00am GMT.

Phew! And a further update to container issues at 3.38pm GMT today Jul 11th.

The implementation isn't great. I gave up on

In the desk is: a receipt, Clark's jotter and a newspaper clipping.

>take receipt

If you want the receipt you'll have to first tell me to take it out of the container that it is in.

>take out the receipt

You asked me to take out the receipt but I'm having trouble carrying out that instruction.

>take all

There doesn't appear to be anything lying around that I can take

Hello nsmp,

Perhaps you gave up too easily? In the help instructions it clearly says:

You may be able to get objects from or put objects in a container type of object eg:

>put rope in rucksack

>get knife out box

One or two other players have mentioned about having trouble with container objects though, so I have posted another new update at 10.00am GMT this morning 11 Jul 2021.

Now when you see a description of an open container that holds object(s):

In the desk is: a receipt, Clark's jotter and a newspaper clipping.

You may now acquire an object inside the container by typing :

>get receipt

or

>get the receipt from drawer / get receipt out desk

or

>get all out desk

I've just finished this and I have to say I think it's great - very atmospheric, skilfully written in authentic  Lovecraftian style, a good solid plot (I like a strong narrative in a game) and very solidly implemented throughout. I'd heard of TAB but never played anything written in it. Judging by this, it's a very capable retro-style text adventure tool; the game feels very PAW-like to me.

I spotted one or two little errors and typos - I'll DM you with those.

Well done!

Thanks for trying the game and for your comments. I fixed the issues you raised and posted a new version for download this morning. :)

I'm stuck, and hoping someone can help.

I'm not the author but completed this lately. You are on the right track. It might just be a matter of "guessing the verb", otherwise, perhaps you need to sleep once more before doing what you are trying to.

Here are some commands I used (rot13):

>trg tnf sebz oneebj   (V pna'g ubyq gur tnfbyvar, vg'f gbb urnil sbe zr. V qebc vg.)

>qebc nyy

>trg tnf    (V abj unir gur tnf)

>ghea pnc   (gb bcra gur tnf)

>cbhe tnf va jryy

>guebj orfbz va jryy

I hope this works :)

It did, thanks.  What tripped me up was that the game said that the oneery pbhyq abg or rzcgvrq, so I had placed gur oneery va gur pnir.

Thanks for trying it guys and well done for figuring out the solution! (I will make a point to do a future code or text change to attend to the misunderstanding that Mr Patient experienced)
