What did this game do well?

****************************

I am so surprised about how polished this game is, it is almost like a full game with the save/load system, a full battle system, sound effects for everything, different magic skills and animation for them, the list goes on. You can just put this game on Steam. I like how the gold and monster parts balance each other. There's also a unique hunger meter that almost no popular rpg's have, although it's a little annoying for the players, it also makes sense and is a good limiting factor.

The game was fun to play and easy to understand, with a leveling system.

I like how you implemented some sort of fighting scenes between the character and the enemies even though it is a RPG game. It's pretty extensive for a prototype and seems like it can actually be a built out a bit more to be a actual game. The stores have quite a selection of things to buy and I like how you have a sell option too.

It is a wonderful prototype of RPG games with Nintendo features. If they have more time, I believe they can make a new version of Pokemon XD.

INSANELY fleshed out... Are you sure you only worked on this for a week?

You really have the bones of a full fledged RPG here.

The game content is extensive for a week-long prototype, and at the same time, there are massive resource systems included. It must be lot of works and tuning.

I like how fleshed out the game is. The fighting is very enjoyable and the different resources gives the player a lot of different ways to fight.

What could this game have done better?

****************************

Since I feel like this game is very well done I have nothing but nitpicky items and suggestions to build upon it. As for any rpg's the grind could become a little tedious, and I did feel that here. Perhaps adding some sort of narrative could help incentivize that grind.

And the free Excalibur that breaks the game, I know that was just probably for demonstration purposes or for jokes or something, but that was way too easy to get our hands on it, at least put it in a secret spot(I enjoyed using it though, thank you lady of the lake).

the leveling system only raised the sp and didn't raise the hp so later on when encountering multiple mobs the player can't get further without using a potion every other turn.

The fighting scenes may need a little more clear instructions on how to use the swords and other items. The door in the beginning was a bit hard to find and notice since it was so small. Maybe have some sort of display thing on the corner of the screen so the player knows what they already have like gold, health..etc. I think it would be much easier to see rather than constantly opening the bag or menu.

There is no creative ideas about the resource system (although complex enough). I hope they can have deeper insights and more ideas on how to build a more interesting resource system in RPG games.

I don't have much criticism to be honest but (just in my time playing) I didn't actually encounter that many different kinds of each Resource.

Though, I think this is entirely excusable because of the fact that it is just a prototype and imo just setting up to account for and interact with this many resource systems is completion enough.

I feel like the art style is a bit inconsistent between navigating the world and during combat

Maybe a health bar for enemies.
