Noam is a 23 year-old woman from Israel. She has a degree in mathematics, and works as an analyst at a high-tech company.
Her pastimes include watching stand-up comedy, playing video games, hanging out with friends and not dying.
Unfortunately, Noam died of cancer earlier this year, which was, and this is very important to stress - not one of her hobbies.
Despite her young age, Noam managed to accomplish much in life - she was a top-grade student, a solider, an analyst, a researcher, a girlfriend.
She loved science and technology, and making people laugh. She strove to make the world a better place piece by piece, and fought hard to live her life on her own terms even as her disease was growing.
Before her untimely demise she has inspired many, and even now her story inspires those who hear it.
NoamJam is a game jam dedicated to the memory of Noam Rozenboim, with the primary goal of providing everyone with things Noam had loved - A unique challenge, an opportunity to learn and improve, a chance to connect with others and make new friends, and an excuse to play good games.
We also wish to support causes that Noam believed in. This year we are partnered with the charity organization Women's Spirit, which financially aids survivors of domestic abuse. Please consider donating to this good cause at this link.
The game jam will span 72 hours from Friday to Sunday, starting on:
October 21st, 05:00 GMT (Friday)
Once finished, a team of judges will review all entries and a winner will be announced.
The game jam has a theme that will be announced once the game jam begins.
Noam Rozenboim believed in the value of equality and worked towards bettering the world in various ways, such as science, technology, and human connection.
She was a middle-eastern woman working in a male-dominated industry, and she was part of the LGBTQ+ community.
One cause she believed in is being spearheaded by Women's Spirit, which is a non-profit charity organization based in Israel. Its purpose is to give support and assistance to survivors of domestic abuse on their way to achieve financial security.
Or, in their words:
Women's Spirit focuses on rewriting the story of women survivors of abuse. Women's Spirit assists women survivors of abuse to develop financial independence and occupational security. Since our founding in 2007, we have assisted thousands of women. We know that the link between financial dependence and violence (physical, sexual, economic, and mental) against women is crucial and therefore the departure of women from the cycle of violence involves the establishment of their financial independence. Women’s Spirit has been recognized for its role as a world leader in the field of violence against women and has been accorded the status of Special Advisor to the United Nations Economic-Social Council (ECOSOC) of the UN in 2019.
