Judge feedback

  • Gameplay: The gameplay is solid. Fluid motions, transition between build/player mode is fine. Missing a motivation for player actions. Creativity & Innovation: I feel like this is too early to tell. I will say the very literal interpretation of "building connections" was unexpected and fun amid the jam. Theme Adherence: This is the most strictly adhered to the theme terms I've seen in the jam. Playability & User Experience: Controls worked great and responded consistently. Really fantastic job on that front. Good job having clear communication of what does what within the game UI, and props for having an additional guide on the play page. Players knowing how to play is critical. The UI could be a little better, particularly the remove icon looks like a leave mode button, and the clouds backdrop makes it a little hard to see the build grid. Art and Design: Solid models. Things look liek what they are supposed to look like. Dosen't feel overly tied into the jam theming. Overall Fun Factor: The fun factor isn't here yet, but I don't feel like that's gonna be a surprise. There isn't an inherent player motivation set up by the game space because of a lack of goals, but prominent system structure. As an overall comment: Great foundation to continue building something out of! The easy thing is to say I'd expect a puzzle game, but these systems could be used in a multitude of fashions.

Hey! I got stuck after I pulled up build mode, how do I actually build the bridge? Looks great though!

Developer

Hey sorry about that, looks like i didn't set up viewport dimensions on itch while submitting it. It should be fixed now ( go fullscreen).

Thanks

Yay, got it working! Are the metal balls supposed to give you an extra tile? I can make it to the first platform, and then I can't seem to make the jump to the second with only 4 tiles.

Either way- I hate heights and it really gave me some discomfort with the cloud animation! The way the tiles are white makes them blend in and just added to my anxiety! Good job!!

Thanks for trying out the game.

Yes the metal balls do give you extra tiles and as for the second jump, you can remove your previously placed tiles to reuse them (The "X Remove" button bottom left in build menu ) . Sorry for the lack of tutorial/ introduction to game mechanics.

Its was a last minute idea so the game loop is kinda messed up lol, you can practically finish the "level" by just 2 tiles if you keep building and replacing. Should have planned out more.

Guess that's a lesson for future updates or the next game I make.

That's really smart, I didn't even think to try that! Probably more user error than anything on your part XD
