I think I discovered my worst fear, being turned into a mannequin by a MAN, who also has atrocious taste in fashion.
anyway yeah yeah this game was awesome, I knew when I saw the BTD reference this game was going to be fire.
What a unique and interesting way to tell a story! This really got my theorizing brain revved up as I tried to guess what the creator of Galatea might currently be going through, the sort of interests they might have, or why they made the choices they did as they changed and evolved their oc. As a "love letter" to the creation process, I think the game really holds true to that. As a fellow creator I could definitely find myself relating. There's been a handful of old OCs that I've redesigned and reworked their stories to make them feel less like something a rebellious teen would create and turn them into something more relatable and fleshed out so that they actually feel like a unique individual and not a stereotype.
Anyway I think this did a pretty good job portraying the feeling that "I love this oc, but something needs to change if I'm going to keep using them". I was honestly hoping for a little more choices or player influence in deciding how Galatea developed, not just in appearance, but in his personality and backstory as well. But given that this is a NaNoRenO project, I can understand why there's limitations on this. Nevertheless, that would be my recommendation if the creator wanted to improve this going further, so that the player can better "connect" with Galatea's creator. As it is I didn't really see myself roleplaying as Galatea's creator, but that they were an NPC and the player is just a bystander witnessing these changes they're making. I'm pretty sure there's only one ending, so it feels like none of the choices we made really matter in the end, they were just cosmetic changes that were later overridden by the actual creator's vision. Which there's nothing wrong with that either of course, it just depends on what you're going for: do you want the player to feel like they are the creator or a witness to the creation process?
I did enjoy this nevertheless and can recommend to anyone be they creator themselves or just curious to see some of the creation process. I would love to see more projects from the devs in the future!
