Really promising idea, unfortunately the realization still needs some work.

The concept of a dungeon building game is one I find always appealing, and here it is made even more appealing by the cool art style, but unfortunately I couldn’t progress further than level 4 because heroes got stuck on each other: seeing as they don’t really need to collide with anything you could remove the collisions altogheter! Another thing I’ll say is in a possible post-jam version the room upgrades will need some way to visually distinguish them, be it a number overlayed on top or completely different sprites.

I would also allow heroes to move together to gradually increase difficulty. As I said, as a proof of concept this game has much potential, if you keep working on it and give the player a little more action you can make it a really fun game!

As promised, I've returned to play the game. Unfortunately, there are quite a few issues.

I frequently encounter the bug you pointed out about how the characters can't navigate around each other. This unfortunately stopped me progressing past level 4 at most.

If you purchase the second or third room first, any room previous will never be entered by the characters in any following level.

The third 'Buy' button's click detection isn't the size of the button itself. You can see this simply by hovering over the top half of the button.

The play button is really stretched and doesn't look very appealing, same with the health bar.

Not being able to defeat the character on level one is rather unattractive, it means you are always going to lose health no matter what.

I can't really comment on anything else as I frequently could not get past level 1 due to the characters getting stuck on each other.

I do like the art style and the idea of the game. The mechanic of the game reminds me heavily of a card game I recommend you look at if you are interested in taking this project further. The game is called Boss Monster.

You have a really promising game, but unfortunately it is just unplayable in it's current state. If you were to fix what I have suggested, I would love to replay and give you further feedback.

Okay have to admit the fact that this is a bug rather annoys me and hurts, this was literally the first thing I implemented and tested rigourously until I had to redo a couple of things, ugh.

Edit: yep i saw and fixed the issue in 3 seconds, frustrating

I agree that it is unplayable right now. hopefully if I participate in another jam or come back to this game it will be a little better

Thank you so much for the feedback, as I say sorry about the state of the game - hope I can improve in future

great concept and i love the style. I would suggest allowing the player to directly damage heroes a small amount aswell possibly by clicking them.

Leaving a comment to also let you know the game appears to have the wrong resolution on my end. Reply to me if you get this fixed because I would like to be able to play!

Developer

Ok, I _think_ it should be fixed now, simple issue of me not choosing the correct resolution for itch to display the game properly 😬

It works on my end now. As you said on your game page, it seems like time might have gotten away from you. The game isn't very playable in its current state. I immediately experienced the bug where the enemies got stuck on eachother so the game couldn't  progress.  I refreshed to play again. This time it worked but I really didn't understand what I was doing to damage the enemies. However it seems like you have a solid idea going. Some more work and I am sure the game would be fun to play. Keep making games!

Yeah T_T first time playing around with godot and plus having other things going on that weekend didn't help but thanks for the encouragement! I'll try and bring something better next time

I feel like I may be missing something. Is this the entire game window? I had the two buy buttons, but nothing is happening. The text on the menu screen was also cut off on the right. I don't know how web builds work, but was there some sort of resolution selection? I'm going to hold off from rating in case this is a simple error and will check back later. I do like the style though!

I did attach an image but I can't see it. Essentially, it feels like I can only see the top half of the game, and it's cut off on the right.
