Very cool clon mechanic, it was a different way to implement a double jump.
Good game! I like the character and environmental art here. I also like the unique take on double-jumping, although it didn't always reset my jump properly. It also could have been clearer what all of the pickups do. I believe only the first ability had a help message indicating that the player powered up. The final boss had some cool attack patterns which required the abilities to overcome, but the boss could use some more balancing. I ended up cheesing the boss by standing in the corner and slashing it. Overall, this is a solid game!
Personal taste - the map felt a little too open and I sometimes felt I didn't know where to go (Didn't know where to go really after getting the Shift power in particular)
I have no idea what the red wedges did - I assume health or time or something?
Using the clone/Shift felt like I had to be ready to do all my inputs at once. When the clone was offscreen that felt particularly hard to use - maybe a teleport animation to give the player a moment might help.
Shift/Clone was a great way to get around the problem of 'everyone does double jump' that metroidvanias run into
Hitting enemies felt a bit underwhelming
all in all a solid entry!
Yeah! The map should have a bit more direction to it after the clone power! After getting the dash it was also hard to get to the next part.
You are right the red wedges were health upgrades, but I forgot to update player health on getting them.
Thank you for your input!
This mechanic was really fun to play with. Great stuff!
This is fun, floating around and simple to play and enjoy. It is a little average of all things, nothing grabs my attention but that in mind nothing bothers me. Great job, Ill give this 3.5/5 all things considered, and haven't played a lot of games yet. Hope you can return with some comments and ratings yourself. Thanks for participating in the jam!
