Hey congrats on completing a RPG in 48 hours! I had a few thoughts while reading your game:

  • Your theme, sidekick creation, and consideration for the players are both very excellent. They show a lot of thought and care to those who would be playing. And I enjoyed the free form nature of the powers. Very open in that regard.
  • What didn't sell me was the bidding part. Because if you win, then you'll likely be better for the rest of the game. And if you lose, then you are going to most of the time be weaker for the game. Even with the powers cause the numbers are going to be what they are. Created this odd sense of player v player where I think that could be held within the RP.
  • I was glad to see pre-generated character sheets at the end! They did clear up some questions I had. Also got me thinking about how I could try and out-optimize other players.

Nice job. I may not be your player base but I really enjoyed reading for your theme and tone.

Thanks for the feedback.

I think the auction and secret advancement work best in games where the players are on the same team but have rivalries. So there's always a tension over who is actually the best, but also an opportunity to specialize elsewhere (if for example two players are bidding up on "fighting").

I'm not sure myself if I love it or hate it, so I included rules for no auction and open advancement as well.
