It seems like the witch gets you even if you're not exactly touching the walls. I had to really thread the needle on that first corridor. Conceptually this game doesn't make a lot of sense. What are the walls made of? am I in the witch's intestine? what does the flashlight even do? I guess witches make concoctions but other than that I don't see the theme in this.

Other than that, the sounds add to the atmosphere really successfully. They don't play too much or too little, and I can't imagine how you even got noises like that. The atmosphere is really the strongest part of this game, but it seems like a shame that the player is likely to immediately trigger the jumpscare (no tutorial or space to experiment), thus not giving the game enough time to build up the atmosphere and make people jumpy. With that being said, the difficulty and the creepy atmosphere work together well and it was overall a good experience

Glad to here the positive reviews! (Don't worry about where i got the sounds from ;) )

Scary sounds I played this too late at night. Maze hitboxes were too tight.

This game could've used more levels and something else going on inside the maze. I really expected the witch to be following the player or something. It may sound difficult, but getting some rudimentary pathfinding to allow the witch to travel through the maze behind the player would be a great addition to make this more of a game. You could even put her on a static "track" so to speak
Plus, this could give the flashlight a mechanical purpose: maybe the witch can only be seen if the sprite is being touched by the flashlight "light" beam?
Some other ideas:

  • Maybe the player needs to collect items in the maze that are hidden without the flashlight (classic 8 pages slenderman style)
  • Maybe have some other enemies or obstacles (or even just a jump scare) pop out at you in throughout the maze
  • Add extra paths that lead to dead ends with important items or shortcuts that lead to more dangerous paths, something besides just going point a to point b

These are very good suggestions from FayeDamara. The atmosphere was really creepy- art and sound combined so well!  Although there is a witch, though, I don't really see a concoction involved.

I mean, its playable, and the atmosphere is kinda cool, but the gameplay of slowly moving through a maze with touching any of the sides forcing you to reload the whole page is not fun. Also, how does this apply to the theme?
