A sudden health issue prevented me from being able to look for collaborators for this year's O2A2 before the jam started, so instead of rushing to find people, I decided to just make it with my own 160x144 pixel art in GB Studio (an engine I'd recently used to make a top-down adventure game in) and jury-rig it into being a visual novel.
