The art and aesthetic is really great. Always love cat themes :3 The music was relaxing but I found the sound effects and chatter sound effects to be jarring since they all came in louder than the actual track that was playing. I also ran into some bugs with the hit box for the slider. There were time when I wasn't able to pick up food that I had made so it was just kinda stuck there. The cursor shape was very cute, however it made knowing where the active point on it was hard. I would have liked to be able to throw away food that I made by accident if it wasn't servable to anyone. Overall though there is a lot of promise in this. Just needs some tuning on flow and some tweaking of the hitboxes I think.

Great job :)

Thank you! We can definitely tweak the audio a bit. We’ll look into the issues with hitboxes and the slider, they hopefully should be easy fixes. This was actually our first time making custom cursors for our games, so we’ll be sure to fix its size and position. As for throwing food away, I think part of our initial idea was to not allow food to be thrown away, so that players have to be careful with their choices, although we can perhaps talk about discarding food. Thank you again for all the comments and feedback!

I really love all the art you have done. I think it is some of the best in the jam. Just like everyone else I would have liked to see an icon in the customers order or see labels of which foods are which. If you want to keep your game this way I think It would be best to start with two options and as you cycle through more customers slowly add in more food options. This way the player learns which things are what as they go instead of having a big knowledge drop at the beginning if you read the tutorial. I think there is a great opportunity to make  a tutorial that is weaved into the gameplay. I'm also not sure what I was doing wrong, but a customer asked for bread and I didn't see it on the left anywhere.

Thank you! We did originally plan to do a tutorial level instead of just a page, but had to cut the idea due to time constraints. If possible, we will try to make one for our post-jam update.

I like the game! My biggest issue is, of course, the need for labels (or just add the icons to the customer's orders) and I can't really tell where the mouse is pointing.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! We will add icons to replace alot of the text in our post-jam update. As for the mouse, we used a custom pointer, which perhaps was a bit too small. We can try making it a bit larger as well. Thanks again!

I really love this concept and the gameplay is fun once you get a hang of it. But I had some issues with figuring out what food item was which. It may benefit you to either label the items on the slider or use the pictures when ordering instead of the name. I also got the slider UI stuck on the screen a couple of times and it wouldn't come off without refreshing the page. I love any game with a cat protagonist and Meowdevial Kitchen doesn't let the genre down!

Developer

Thank you for the comments and feedback! I agree about using icons over text labels, we will definitely add that in our post-jam update. Thank you for letting us know about the slider bug, we will try to fix that as well. I’m glad you enjoyed the game!

If I remember correctly, the slider bug was happening more when I tried to full screen the game if that gives you any direction to work in.

Developer

Ahh I see, thank you!
