I love it! The ability to dodge by hiding in a dimension, but in-turn get locked to it, is a brilliant one for a shmup! Would definitely enjoy seeing a fuller demo/release, perhaps with a slightly more hand-holdy tutorial, just to make sure I remember to hide in 1D for the lasers.
The only thing I would change is just swapping XZ with XY as the stated dimensions, since you’re moving into the depth dimension and most people associate screen/plane co-ordinates with XY, so it just felt a little odd to see (doesn’t seem like it’s critical that the displayed and internal co-ordinate systems must match up, especially if this would help readability).
Thanks for comment!Yep as u said,it's more readable with XY,however the reason I use XZ is that for the Input 'X' and 'Z' is in the adjecent position(I used XY in program too XD. Your advice is very useful and I will take into consideration!Maybe using a custom key bindings to XY is more readable? Will do it a fuller demo after more learning.Wish you a nice day!:D
I really like this game, this is quite amazing if this is your first game jam submission. I enjoy a good challenge and unlocking more messages as I got my score up compelled me to keep trying. It was a bit hard to understand how the hiding mechanic worked, but that's about all I have to criticize. I think my high score speaks volumes to my personal enjoyment, keep making so I can keep playing.
OMG can't believe making such a high score bro!I sincerely thank you for playing through this game and read all the messages! As you said,I should make a better guidance in the view of player, cause it's my first game,I think in the process of dev just in the view of designer and ignore player experience to some extent. And sorry for lacking of the game content in the later stage,it's hard for me to design difficulty curve and spent lot of time in the debug of VFX.I will do my best to keep going, sincerely thanks for playing and wish U a nice day!:D
Love the idea of the hop into 1D mechanic! nice job!
Thanks for loving!Wish U a nice day:D
Good job! An interesting take on a simple idea, I really like the "hiding in 1d" mechanic. It took me a while to understand how it works (or more like how it helps me avoid the lasers), but then i really liked it. Reached about 400 score and bought her a pizza. :>
Thanks for comment!Maybe I should take more time for guiding of the mechanic:)It is my first time making a complete game, learned a lot from your comment, wish U a nice day, gave me power to dev forward:D
It's a basic, very simple game. I didn’t really see the point of growing or shrinking, though.
If you want to check out our game, feel free to do so :3 https://butterflan.itch.io/spicy-king
If you play the game in its entirety, you'll find that you need to hide in one dimension to avoid the lasers. Scale is not just about size, but also about dimension. Of course, I should also make more expansions based on this gameplay, but this is my first time making a complete game. Anyway, thank you for your comments:D
oh this was super neat! the first time ive seen the actual dimensions used like that :D there is one thing i must know though. lesbian?
Thanks for your comment! I don’t think there is a main character in this game; rather, the main character is the player. Therefore, their actual sexual orientation doesn’t really matter!(I used a translator to reply, so if there are any inaccuracies in the response, sorry for that:)
