Really impressive to make a metroidvania and I like the idea for the theme, would need something to attract the player in certain direction as it is easy to get lost in the level design. But well done!

Thanks for the compliment and the criticism!

The art is great.  The level design felt a little bit hard to understand sometimes. Great job being able to do a metroidvania on a game jam!

Developer

Thanks! We tried to create a good experience in the limited time we had ;)

An interesting game from the thematic sense of things. Rather than mechanically you took the jam's theme in a direction more tied to the environmental setting, aka a you paly as a microbe inside a body.

Overall, creating a metroidvania styled game in just 4 days is an achievement in of itself.

Whilst I was enjoying the game, the dash attack which most of the platforming seems to be cantered around is just too buggy. I would frequently dash into and kill and enemy which would should then recharge my dash, only it doesn't and I fall to my death. Sometimes it would flawlessly and felt great and juicy to use, other times it just failed. Eventually I hit a room I couldn't get past due to this inconsistency.

Developer

The dash mechanic as pointed out by other players as well has some problems, which went overlooked during our little playtest.
To properly "combo" dash, you apparently need to release the movement keys after dashing, but even that does not work properly sometimes!
Glad to have your review!

Nice game! Pretty cute parasite you got here :D

Submitted(+1)

Loved the concept and the execution!

The parasite is too cute to be this lethal, i love it, and the animation of the attack is really smooth! Maybe a bit more sounds and a catchy bg song would have make  it perfect!

Overall a really nice work! ^^

Thank you for the feedback!  Our sound designer is lazy, but we will  kidnap  him and force him to work more next time!

I'm not supposed to be rooting for a parasite but here I am lol.

I really liked the art and animations, especially for the organism we play. I struggled, but eventually found out that after killing that blood mob, I can't dash up again if I held the up arrow the whole time, so I had to spam the left and right arrows before dashing up again. I could see it being more "fleshed" out with its level design and mechanics, so even though it ended unfinished, I really liked the idea. Good job on the game jam, and I hope you guys continue making games.

Glad to have your feedback!
I didn't know about this bug, i guess we simply got accustumed to this janky way of dashing naturally, but good to know, now that you said it I finally undestand why my dash  failed seemingly at random sometimes.
I hope we created something enjoyable, and will continue to try and create games coming forward :)

Very cool! I like the whole design of it however if there was something to complain about it would definitely be the lack of sounds. I think more sound effects or even some vibe-fiting music in the background would be neat! Nonetheless I still think it's a great game!

Developer (1 edit)

Totally agree with you, we planned to try and create some very cyclic ambience music, it was just fitting, blood pumping, air currents, Idk.
It would really help setting a tone, even better, could be used to make the player feel small, with "BIG" sounds in the distance.
Anyway our musician and sfx artist got lazy.

Thanks for stopping by :)

Love the art! Not sure where I was supposed to go after getting the dash and leaving the level.

Developer

Ah, thanks for the feedback!

This is a difficult part of game development without proper playtesting, sometimes you just assume the player knows where to go and what to do.

With the lunge, you can eat the disconnected pieces of flesh in the ground, taking you to the next area.

I'll probably add something to the description implying this.

Love the 8-bit style, though wish there was a soundtrack

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!
I also wish there was a soundtrack, but our musician was veryyyyy lazy and didn't do it in time :)

Pretty nice but hard !
