I'm really bad at beat-type games, but I liked this one. The art is pretty nice, I like the Wizard death sprite, of which I saw a lot :).
I think you can expand a bit on the puzzles and add some kind of penalty or time pressure for moving off-beat.

A nice little game! Totally fits the theme. The music and the rhythm of movement feels great.
For some reason I personally expect first beat of 8 bars to be first move of the next character, not last move of the previous, which made me lose many times...
Game has a great potential. It feels like adding a bit of urgency would make continuous switching of bodies more meaningful. Things like having to deal with moving enemies, obligatory movement, breaking pattern with 4 beats instead of 8, etc. would add so much.

You're absolutely right about the beat one thing. I can only attribute that to tunnel vision. We wanted the character to get the first move on the first beat, implemented the systems, then just didn't realize we had the beats wrong until the game shipped. That'll happen.
We had a bunch of ideas for more things to do, more enemies, more pressure somehow. We were working on an enemy that fires a laser across a room, had all the art and everything, but the laser just refused to properly interact with anything so it needed to be cut. Maybe after some rest we'll come back and play with it some more. Some kind of forced movement, or a penalty for missing the beat might do a lot of good.

Honestly a very fun game! It wasn't very challenging though. I think an interesting idea would be to make it so that they are forced to move every beat? So they couldn't move an odd amount of tiles in a turn and that might make for some fun puzzles. Very nice job this is one of my favorites that I've played
Thanks! Since our last game jam project was submitted with no tutorial and extremely hard levels, we decided to work hard to avoid the same problem this time around. I definitely agree there's unmet potential and space for refinement - ideas for the future, perhaps?
I really loved this game. Probably the best one out of the 5 games I played yet. I love the music and the mechanics. It's a great game!
