I liked the concept a lot, being a huge Braid fan, the idea of including rewinding time as part of the mechanics is something that i like a lot. I had a lot of trouble playing it, though. I couldn't get past the second level because, I figured (thought) that you were meant to stand on the green platform on the left so that the block on the right side slides up, jump towards the right, stand next to that block and rewind the time so that it slides up, that didn't happen. I gave it a few tries. Granted, i'm not super skilled and it may have taken me too long, but there's no feedback as to how far we are rewinding, so it's really hard to tell if I took too long or misunderstood the mechanics completely. I liked the visuals a lot, shame there are no sounds.
All in all a very cool concept, hope you keep working on it!!
I love little puzzle games (actually any puzzle game). I think there is a lot of potential with this game. It seems like you have a creative flair for puzzle making as well.
I felt the game needed a bit more of teaching the player the various ways puzzles can be overcome. i'm left still uncertain whether jumping on the triangle baddies makes my guy jump higher? I am stuck in the middle of level two because I cannot jump high enough to escape.
Also, (and I know I'm probably too harsh here) but the rewind thing here only seems to work on platforms, maybe a little bit on the bad guys...? It doesn't have a very visual and convincing rewind effect. But obviously I'm not judging you for failing to recreate Braid for a 31-day game jam lol.
I'm left disappointed because I don't now the trick to finishing your levels, but it seems to me that I don't understand some of the gameplay mechanics rather than me not knowing how to solve a puzzle (i.e. it's more of a technical challenge rather than a puzzle challenge).
Visuals, I like, this seems - for the lack of a better word - a cute game. As I mentioned above, this could be a great little app for a smartphone if you stick with it.
Anyway I'm trying to build an action/adventure type 3rd person puzzle game myself with time travel as a theme. (i.e. think of TombRaider / Uncharted type with lots of puzzles around the time travel theme). Connect with me outside this game jam if you're interested as I need more creative ideas for puzzles. Though I have to warn you I'm a C++/Unreal type of guy :p
