You can tell this was a game-jam game. As a huge fan of light-gun rail-shooters, I was itchin' to get my hands on any and all of these types of games. The problem with "Lighthouse of The Dead" is that it fails to deliver on nearly every aspect I enjoyed so much from the genre.
Game-play suffers as you can only hold four rounds at once and reloading takes so long that you need to make every hit count in order to barely scrape by. The problem with this is that even when I get a direct head shot, which should be a critical hit, enemies still take several shots just to down them, causing problems when you're hoarded with no means by which to reasonably down all the enemies without taking any damage.
The art-style isn't bad, featuring a dingy swamp and decent enough enemy designs, but everything moves too slowly and the music is so boring it becomes downright annoying and repetitive. Far better to just mute the music and play something else in the background.
I see potential here, but the game needs some work before I'd be willing to put real time into it.
Perfect throwback to Carnevil and House of the Dead and all the fun their devs had with making dismemberable baddies. Hit locations doesn't seem to do much and the small clip size is annoying, but otherwise a fantastic game!
