Wow really an awesome game. I liked how it was difficult, It made me feel good when I beat a level. The music and the art was simple and perfect
Thank you so much!! I’m glad you liked it.
Can't believe this game was currently rated the least! This is one gem of an experience.
The level design is obviously applaudable: A solid selection of levels, with a good and non-linear difficulty.
My most favorite bit is a small detail: The sound of the spaceship's thrusting. However you did this, I love that you went for that wavy sound.
Great job. Loved finishing the game :) Keep on fighting!
Thank you so much for the support!!
I applaud you for taking a risk and making a difficult, almost simulation-style game like this. This is one of the better games I have played in the jam for sure. You have very simple mechanics and a simple goal / flow but you make it work through tight controls and interest and fair level design.
I think it's good that you demand a lot of the player, it makes me feel smart and skillful when I do figure it out and finish a level, after many tries :).
I have four suggestions:
- Make the hitbox / wall collider on the player smaller than the player itself, at least by a bit but maybe half the size of the player. This will make your game 100% more playable, because it will allow for situations where the player thought they were going to crash, but just barely avoided it and feel good about it. Your game feels very fair, but great games aren't fair in my experience, instead they favor the player more. Plus your game is pretty hard right now anyway :).
- Some kind of movement based interactables, like a jump pad, a two sided tunnel that bends and shoots you in a new direction, something that slows you down, maybe some place that's safe where you don't crash. These can make levels feel dynamic and interesting as the game progresses.
- More non-linear level design, where you have to explore a little bit and find a key in one area and then move to the exit which is in another area, maybe you even have to solve a tiny puzzle in a level.
- Some simple ranged enemy that shoots a projectile that you have to dodge whilst you are moving through the level. You can't defeat the enemy, it's their as more of a nuisance and an ambient threat. Have many of these in a level to make it more challenging.
Thank you for the positive feedback. Your points were also very helpful and well though out. I will keep your points in mind for any future projects I may make.
Yeah, no problem. If you aren't going to continue on this project, I would encourage you to take some of the ideas or elements that you have here, and use them for your new project(s) because this is genuinely engaging gameplay.
The amount of levels and balancing is staggering for such a short amount of time! I did experience some weird shaking of the camera especially when going fast.
Thanks for the feedback and for letting know about the weird camera shake.
Controls feel great. Tons of levels. Good ramping of difficulty. A simple game executed really well. GG
I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for the positive feedback
Love the little alien dude, super cute sprite!
