Ok, So I found a pencil, ruler, scissors, stapler, notepad, glue stick, bronze pencil,  bronze glue stick, bronze rule, bronze eraser. It took 'til level 7 to reach over $50... I don't know if I could play 10xs as much (70 rounds??) to make 500 bucks lol And my burning question is: IS there a golden ruler in there anywhere???? lol as I wrote this out I had to play another round, I was just dying to know if there was a golden ruler. and I found a silver ruler for 27.50 woo hoo! so maybe there is a golden rule and maybe it won't take so long as i thought. After that 8th round I was up to almost 90 bucks. So I decided to keep going, maybe I was almost there and didn't even know it. but then....

At the very end of the next round I found something needing 22 digs, and I frantically smashed the space bar trying to dig it up before time ran out and.... it stopped!!!! no!!!!!!!!!!! lol all my hard work gone. The space bar puts the shovel image up but nothing else happens, no other buttons do anything, no money totaling up, no way to continue.  poor timmy gets no game console from me :( lol Thought you might like to know so you can check it out and fix it up if you wanted to. Oh and one other little thing I was thinking. when smashing the space bar, you can close the little dialog box that pops up with what you've discovered. it is nice that you can see it in the top left of the screen anyway, but I would have liked a different button to close the box so that didn't happen :)

Overall, really fun game. I enjoyed roaming around frantically digging, wondering if there was a golden rule. And honestly... before I decided to go with a literal golden rule theme and was trying to interpret it in different ways a "golden rule" was something I thought of too!!! LOL as they say: great minds think a like hahaha congrats on completing a 48hr game jam. no small feat. Good job!

Thank you so much for you feedback, I am aware of the couple small issues. If you dig a prize right as the timer ends, it softlocks the game. Something I wanted to fix but just didn't have the time. Once your level gets higher, it really does help bringing it larger hauls. Silver stuff definitely helps with that too.

And to answer the question, Is there actually a golden rule? The answer is..... Yes there is. Just incredibly rare, I came across it only twice during all my testing. It is a 1 in 500 chance of appearing, the depth ranges from 80 - 100, and is worth a whopping $500, thus beating the game immediately if found.

They way the odds break down is common items are 80% bronze is 12%, Silver is 7%, gold is 1%. So I actually got that wrong in my previous response. The whole time during development I had 1 in 500 in my head but it's actually 1 in 100 chance for the golden rule

Interesting idea with the "getting warmer" mechanic, and I liked how it kept track of which items you've found on the main menu.  Could have used some music and SFX I think, but good job on this for a short 48 hour game jam!

Thank you. I really wish I had time to do music and SFX. I'm thinking of creating a full project with this game mechanic.

I really liked the core gameplay loop, with some more time I  can see this becoming very addictive :)

Thank you. I was very happy with the results as far as replay value goes. I'm thinking of creating a full project with this game mechanic (though not with school supplies XD)
