Hello! Welcome to Feedback Quest 7! My name's Hythrain and I'm one of the hosts and one of the streamers for this event! This feedback is being written live as I stream your game! If you're interested in seeing my live reaction, let me know and I can send you a link to the VOD once it's posted to YouTube!

Or rather, this is what I would say if not for one problem: your "game" doesn't qualify as anything. All you provide are a random assortment of pictures which have not been picked up by my antivirus as a problem but which I will know the source if anything does arise in the near future.

That all said, you've literally given nothing for folks of this event to "play." I'm disqualifying your entry on the grounds of it not even being a "game."

Hi, it looks that I'm thinking too much out of the box. The instruction to try that challenge - which can be called as the game of life (!) - are on the project's page.

Please let me know, if I really should write an explanatory text file and upload it among the other hinting files. I thought that the picture of the poem would be enough.

I will correct the typo, upload it as PDF instead as a picture and if you will recommend it, I will write and upload an explanatory file.

Do you know at least your main inner (Totem) animal? Are you creative as a crow? Are you so nice person, that you can consider yourself as a "white crow"? How is your life game going?

Jam Host

On one hand, yes, you should absolutely include instructions, rules on how to play and even a scenario for people to play out. Without these things, you're just asking people to make it up on their own and... well, that would make THEM the game dev, not you.

However, I don't think a LARPing game like this really fits with our event anyway. Since FQ events are as much about our indie streamers as it is the indie game devs, trying to stream a LARP game is just... really difficult. Putting aside the fact that you'd need specific equipment that most indie streamers likely wouldn't have just to record and stream it, you would need multiple people as well as proper outfits to do so. I can't speak for others but, as the person who makes a point of looking at and trying to play every game in these events, I can't do that. I don't have the equipment. I don't have the outfits. I don't have access to enough people to do a LARPing game, especially on short notice. It just would not be possible for me to stream the game. It just doesn't fit with the design of this event.

1) It is a CHALLENGE (even IRL) not just a game.

2) It is IRL enhancement and there is no manual for life. But just the hint about finding / becoming a white crow should be enough. You really still not understood it?!:( Where are you from, that the symbolic meaning of "white crow" is not known to you?

3) If you use the hints just for LARP, then it can be streamed just as LARP. I do not see any problem with videorecording / streaming LARPs. But I am a real developer, including having and using even high tech., so I am not use to working with - amateurs (for saying it nicely).

+ Because it is IRL, no special clothes are needed.

+ Because it is aimed at MAKING COUPLE(s), no more than 2 people (+ cameraman) are needed.

After seeing your level of (not) understanding, I at least know how very simply should I write the explanatory file. Uff.  But Thank you for the feedback.  I wish you to meet (and after you will be Tough enough for it I wich you to even become) a person with the personality of a white crow!:)

So before I get into anything, keep in mind that when I made the "you're not being the game dev" comment, it wasn't meant to imply insult or anything. I'm just trying to ensure you understand the issue.

As for the game, let me give a more practical example. Let's say you were making a tabletop RPG instead of a LARP game. Tthe things the player needs to play your game and your pre-made campaign (not including things they need to bring such as dice) are the PHB, the Dungeon Master's Guide (DMG), character sheets (so players can know how stats work) and a full write up for the pre-made campaign so the DM knows how the story plays out. The PHB, the DMG and the pre-made campaign scenario are all things the player needs to play the game as intended. They provide the rules. They provide the setting. They provide everything that defines it as a game. What you posted for this would be the equivalent of a few pieces of artwork from the Player's Handbook (PHB) and a poem that is part of the pre-made campaign but doesn't help define much of anything.

Lastly, when I bring up about special clothes and people it's because LARPing involves a lot of people to do it right and the right outfits to set the mood. Think about war reenactments. Those are a form of LARPing, and they take lots of people to do right.

That all said... no, I've never heard of any "symbolic meaning" to a white crow. In fact, I didn't even know white crows were an actual thing until I looked it up 30 seconds before I wrote this line. And that's an important thing to also consider: when making a game, you need to teach the player how to play the game. That includes teaching them any important symbolism that matters for it in case they don't have experience with it. After all, everyone's cultures are different and what's big and important to one culture may not mean anything in another.

If you will look at my profile page where is also the link to my DriveThruRPG publisher profile, you will see that I'm even a big games developer.

With the "white crow", I tried a project which is primarily NOT A GAME (although it can be played as a LARP), but it's IRL enhancement. As such, it even should be challenging if not even cryptical. Anyway, wherever from you are, you should know about symbolical meanings of animals and not just plants (especially of flowers - I hope, that you know what a red rose means).

An eagle means authority and oversight (USA), a wolf means loyalty (Germany), a bear means strength (Russia), a kangaroo as movability (Australia) etc. A black sheep internationally means a bad exception (the same means a black swan and there is a whole opera and musical with that topic and name), so it's logical that a white crow means a positive exception.

So you should upgrade your education instead of trying to teach me!

I'm an owner and leader of a generally developmental international holding with the main company which is a special school, including using TTRPGs for self-development of clients and students and as tools in psychotherapies: https://DMDU.kvalitne.cz - a great company for proper development (Google translator and translatable chat UI are included).
