In what way(s) does your game fit the jam theme?
The theme was "Awesome Per Seconds". Which is by the quality of the game (how much it is polished) and/or also the mood of the game (The awesomeness of a fight, or of a scene in a narrative game, etc...). We tried to fit on both definitions.
- We tried our best to do the more polished game we could produced in 48h. Our artist worked hard to deliver beautiful and finished assets. We were also focused on the game feel because for us, a game can't be awesome if the game feel isn't "awesome" (or kind of pushed to extremes), so we tried to add a lot of signs and feedbacks (not to much), add SFX. In other words, we tried to have the more polish game possible with the funniest gameplay possible.
- During the brainstorm we thought about a Boss Fight Game. Because, this is the paroxysm of a game (or of a game loop). We take our inspiration of Cup Head. But we tried to add our personal touch. We focused the essence of our game on what is the awesomeness of a action/fight game. We split our game in two different phases (first we thought about 4 phases but we had no time and we wanted to have the greatest phases and be focused on polishing them instead of having more "so-so" contents). And what is the better way to overcome awesome bosses ? Having awesome special attacks. So we add an ultimate attack.
In other words, we tried to be on the "awesome per seconds" theme with a polish and awesome game but also a dynamic and awesome gameplay.
