I really like the concept but I will say the beginning is a tad overwhelming because of how much there is to immediately do and you have to go somewhere outside of the main gameplay to find the hints. I do still really like this game though, especially the use of cards.
I like the game but how is it related to climate change? Besides the hints are kind of essential to understand the game, so perhaps you could put those in the introduction?
Thanks for your feedback :)
Indeed, we are looking for a better way to display the hints for the final submission!
We tried to answer the theme "Change the narrative" by showing that everything is easier and more beautiful without pollution: each time you build something generating pollution your board will be grimmer. You will also have a greater chance of getting pollution cards instead of raw resource cards the more polluted your board is.
I had the opportunity to play this during the Prototype phase, and it's exciting to see how far along this game has come. This game's resource management elements are a highlight, and are a unique take on this jam's themes. I also enjoyed the aesthetic and music, which felt quite aligned with the game's general vibe.
I have a couple pieces of feedback which may be helpful as we move through this final sprint. First, I found myself going to the hints page quite a bit to learn and remember the combinations. It may be helpful to have a hotkey where you can quickly pull these up, as opposed to putting them in a menu. Second, it may be helpful to have a pop-up labeling each card to help the player remember what they are called as a point of reference. Finally, there may be a bug on one of the combos: Sun+Fish+Fish+Factory+Ice did not appear to make anything when I tried it.
This is a great entry! Wishing you the best as we move forward.
Thanks a lot for your kind words :)
Indeed, the hint menu is kinda tedious and we are looking for a better solution!
About the bug you mentioned, I didn't manage to reproduce, but there is 2 different factories, which are fairly close in design... Which is something we need to address as well!
