This was a strange experience. I think it was because it felt like (besides the obvious audio missing) that there were mechanics missing that should support the core loop. Like why can I lean? Where is everyone in this town? What am I supposed to experiencing? And I suspect it's the product of overscoping? Either way, you still made something and submitted within the time frame which you should still be proud of. I genuinely curious, would you mind elaborating a little on what your initial goals were?
Thank you!
It indeed was overscoped for a jam, we initially intended for a boss to spawn after collecting a certain number of posters, and we had an ending cutscene in mind after the boss's death. we even had a ranged attack (where you shoot projectiles that can damage enemies), and a feeding (sucking blood from enemies) mechanic completed!
Not that we couldn't finish the animations in time, no, the animations and assets were completed but we didn't have enough time to add them to the game, so the mechanics were hidden to avoid confusing the players and the boss was removed.
The game was supposed to start with a short tutorial showing you a woman crying in the spotlight (introducing you to the feeding mechanic).
That same woman would become the boss of the game, a vampire hunter seeking revenge!
We are planning to update the game after the jam to include all the intended content!
Wow! Very interesting. Thank you for sharing all of that! I can see how the jams timeline would have been challenging to incorporate all of that but the idea is a good one and I'm certainly interested in playing the fleshed out version if manage to make it!
Thank you so much, we really appreciate it!
I mostly agree with Theuntextured's opinions. However, I found the controls pretty snappy (good)! Seems like it could definitely be fun with more time in the oven.
Thank you so much!
I don't really know where the game is going... I feel like it was somewhat unfinished, which is a shame. Would definitely love to play a finished version though!
Thank you!
We had so much content that we couldn't fully implement due to the jam time
so sadly we had to cut them! ;_;
If you ever feel like continuing the project and you need testers, hit me up! I'm theuntextured on Discord! I'd love to play a more developed version!
