Really nice game, i would like to see a longer version of it. I enjoy the two gameplay parts where you are playing as your boat also when you are in the boat fighting.

Not bad, I like the dead animation of the enemies. A problem, though, is that after touching a lever, and looking for something to do because I thought it was some puzzle it returned me to the menu somehow, and then I could not do anything, everywhere was sealed and I just kept breaking my ship.

Developer

Thanks !

After you touch the lever, the cannon ball appears near at the right, so when you take it you go back to the boat area ( I think is what you call the menu I think it's the worst part of my game) but now you have cannon ball to shoot ( with right click and change size of the shoot with left or right arrow) and to destroy rocks, to have access to the chest and it's the end, with a simple victory screen.

The problem is that I give up all the UI part so because of that there is confusions about what to do and what happen in the game,  and i coul'd put a sound effect on the loot of the cannon ball too.

Thank's for the review !

That was a fun playthough, especially for a first game :)

I'd like to see what sort of gameplay you add to this, if you plan to keep making it. You should get tons of feedback from other devs and it's nice to try and fix what you think is needed as it gives you another feeling of completeness, just like the one you get when you submit the game :D

For the feedback, Id recommend a couple of changes. First, it would be nice to see which side of the ship the cannon is on as I kep losing track when the ship changed directions :O
Next I think ti would be helpful to add a text overlay that explains you need to collide with the big ship to enter. It might just be me, but I randomly sailed around then tried boarding the beach, only to be greeted with a message saying I broke my ship :( :P

Overall, it was a fun game and if you do make any additions or changes, I'll happily give it another playthrough

Developer

Thanks for your advices !

You are absolutely right about all of that, if you want to know, 1 hour before i published the game there hasn't the possibility to change the canon ship, because at first at wanted to do a lot of UI things to know i you have ammo, where the canon is targeting... but the UI part was very complicated to me so i decided to give up that.

And for the big boat, I knew that some people wouldn't understand. I thought that making it flash would be enough. I hope it doesn't discourage some because the majority of the work was done on the "platformer" part, but even then, initially, I wanted to do something with the UI.

But to be honest, I don't know if I'll go any further with this game. It was a great experience for me, but because I'm a lazy person and I do everything at the last moment, I had to code very messily, and I don't feel like getting back into this mess, haha.

But thank you for your comment, it's very helpful!

this is so awesome, especially for your first ever game from scratch!! :o

I can imagine that all the animations, art, and coding must've been a ton of work. I was like you when I made my first game, having done only tutorials and feeling like I wasn't getting ~enough~ out of them. gamejams are so fun and great for learning new skills and impressing yourself!!!!

Thanks ! I spent a lot of time yes, but i made 80% of the game in the last 24hours i didn't sleep because of my bad habit to do everything in the last minutes, i planned everything to work progresslively and to code properly, but no ! i prefere to be under pressure ahah so the code is very very messy.

At the end i didn't care about everything, but i'm happy to "finish" it , i have a lot of work to do in pixel art, i'm happy for some sprite and some are very bad, the part where you control the boat is very ugly but it's ok.

Now that i have made my first game i think that i will understand more things with tutorial that i'll watch and i know that gamejam are the best thing to be better.

Thanks for your comment friend !
