The graphics are quite cool. I like the character animation and how a close up of the face pops up when the dialogue is on screen. It has some quite funny dialogue too, "your disappointment is immeasurable" made me laugh. I like the interaction pop-up, showing E to interact. I got stuck on the 2 side-by-side rooms that are almost identical, where you can teleport between them. I assume you're only meant to teleport when you interact with the radio and carpet, but for some reason in the room on the left, if I walk over to the door then I just teleport anyways. Maybe it could do with some sort of music, although it fits the eerie silence of the basement. Or maybe you could add some sort of sound effects. The game runs relatively smooth in some parts but in the room mentioned earlier, it was a bit laggy but that could just be my laptop. From what I've seen though, it's a pretty good game with a decent story, well done :)

Thank you for playing :)

The mirrored room is supposed to only let you teleport to the other side for a few seconds and bring you back after radio stops playing. It's my fault the visuals are quite lacking in that department. The aim was to make a times puzzle, though you can teleport to the otherside as much as you want. Yeah music and sound effects are definitely needed. Hope it was a nice experience even without :)

Ooh okay, that sounds interesting. Maybe make the character flash abit for those few seconds to show it's only temporary. Very good game regardless tho

Incredibly smooth animations and puzzles that are both fair and challenging.
Nicely integrated with the theme (illusion). Could need some audio (unless there is and it's an issue on my end).

Question: What engine version did you use (3.x or 4.x?) and do you plan on working on this game post game jam?

Developer

Thanks for playing :)

I used godot 4.3rc1 (was trying to experiment). I do plan on working on the game after the jam. The Story didn't end  how I wanted and it is in desperate need for some audio and music at least.

The code is mostly spaghetti  so must fix that as well.

I can relate to that last part. This was my first game jam and I learned a lot but the code my team mate and I cobbled together is ... really just cobbled together.

The character you created is so cute! Nice graphic identity, simple but efficient!
