A body horror game with cosmic horror vibes that is an incredibly wild ride from every angle. Great visuals, amazing story and the writing is top notch. On top of that is gameplay that is thoroughly unique - this is why indie horror games are always several steps ahead of the AAA games because Growing my Grandpa is unnerving and unique like nothing else.
This is a really cute, fun, and at least for me quite tense indie horror game that is basically a “collect all x to succeed”-game but does so much more with a great soundtrack, unique designs, three different characters, the chance to learn and adapt with different tools, and lots of exploration that tells a story.
I usually don’t like these types of games because I am a scaredy weenie but I adore everything creepy by Granell and Navarro and therefore wanted to see their spin on this sub-genre of horror games.
Given that you can try different routes and that certain - not all - assets are randomized, you can get a few hours out of the game and since it’s 100% self-made - own assets, music and gameplay - it’s well worth the price.
This game had no right to be so scary, it's so short, it's simplistic and it scared the shit out of me. Great use of space and sound design.
Some Junji Ito-esque horror in only a few minutes that has some gorgeous visuals. I wish it was longer.
A gameboy horror game that plays like the old school adventure games coupled with some arcade fun. The writing of this is gorgeous 80s tv horror movie quality - bananas in the most entertaining way. Everything about this was fun, I loved every second of it.
It's another creepy lighthouse game and this one surprised me with a very unique environment and some great sound designs.
The shortest game with fun gameplay and some tense moments. Gosh, do I love the Mandela Catalogue indie games.
A gorgeous enemy design and some heavy hitting dialog options that deliver b-movie cosmic horror in 10-15 very fun minutes.
A neat short horror game that was just really fun. 10-15 minutes of old school haunted house playtime and a wise use of assets to create a lovely environment.
Loved this 10-15 minute cleanup game for its amazing pacing and neat story telling. Everything works in this game, it's easy, fun, and atmospheric.
If you want to idle a way a few minutes (or a few more), feel free to tap that button and bow to the cat gods (or demons?). This is more a fun time waster than a big story-heavy horror game but gosh it's cute.
Inspired by the horror movie, I prefer this neat little game that has a moment that weirded me out in only the best ways (and in ways the movie couldn't).
A really fun home invasion game with a twist! I did not make it to the end but enjoyed it for the very unique and weird story and awesome big bad-design.
On the lookout for our friend who got lost chasing urban myths in an abandoned mountain area, we find more than we bargained for. This game nails subtlety with small creepy visuals, audio cues and a truly gorgeous soundtrack. The creeps grew slowly and steadily. Plus, it's 20 minutes, so you can fit it in your lunch break, shortly before bed or even while you're waiting for a game update to download. Amazing.
A surreal, gorgeous and super immersive cosmic horror game that puts you in the middle of an old science camp that has been taken over by a cult since it discovered strange phenomenons. This is a 30-45 minute story that is so much fun and has it all: the soundtrack, the visuals, the human sacrifices.
I am absolutely in awe with this game. It lasts 2 minutes (yes) and tells a whole story, has super fun gameplay and looks great. I you don't have much time but want to squeeze in a neat cosmic horror experience, try this, it absolutely wowed. me.
Interactive fiction with vampires, dragons and zombies. This story takes about 30-45 minutes to play but tells an entire world throughout. There are so many choices, so many different paths to take and the journey is wild! I think the writing is gorgeous, I was so immersed and invested and I felt like all my decisions made a real impact. For fans of fantasy/horror a definite recommendation.
The first episode of the Fears to Fathom anthology places Miles, a teenage boy, alone in his house while his parents are away. But is he really alone (cue dramatic music)? This is a classic VHS-styled horror game that adds some incredibly loving details. Not all of the gameplay makes sense but all in all I loved exploring the different outcomes.
A Puppet Combo-styled horror game where every single person you encounter is a creepy weirdo and you never feel safe. Stuck along the road in the middle of nowhere, you need to find a way to safety. But who can be trusted? Some of the gameplay was a lil bit clunky and I didn't always know what to do next but the dev knows how to make you feel uncomfortable with different stylistic choices, it kept me on my toes.
A point & click puzzle game that's both a very classic Hammer Horror experience but also adds some more modern horror elements. This was so fun, moody and weird in all the right places. Just the way how the place looks dusty and how the scares are diverse enough to surprise you until the last scene. Lovely.
A surreal story of a man stuck in an institution trying to escape with the help of his dreams that seem to conjure up objects into the real world. A very short experience but especially the dream world was beautiful and the overall story is a nice little mystery to solve.
One of the most hilarious horror games I played this year. On your way home from work you get stuck in traffic, nod off and suddenly land smack right in the middle of limbo where you tune into an otherworldly radio quiz show that might be your saving grace or your eternal doom. This is a tricky driving game due to its mix of driving mechanics & having to answer trivia questions. I did not fare well but had tremendous fun.
Play cards with an unknown entity that might be death yourself or just your own inner demons. This game is a lovely combination of a person going through their life's choices and trying their last chance to save what's most important. A beautiful visual novel & a card game in a very endearing combination.
A super cool point & click journey through the worst kind of haunted houses. Our protagonist is on the lookout for their child and the last clue leads them to a seemingly abandoned house where only horror awaits. This is so disturbing, tense and interesting, roughly 45 minutes that sink their teeth in.
It's only 10 minutes but they are so immersive and beautiful (and spooky) and then that ending kicks your butt, I had a blast. Also: that soundtrack is gorgeous.
A retro styled point & click horror that is both obscure, surreal, creepy and very melancholic. Stuck in a sort of gallery of lost souls, you have to "clean" the paintings to find your own way.
