Upon entering the new map the player will come upon a group of soldiers. Head over to speak to them, then follow them up into the canyon. Speak to their captain (Adrian). 

Head back down to the previous road and go right. Move to the southern side of the machine there and inspect it. Then move to inspect the remaining uncut tree. Tomoya won't be able to cut it down, but one of the soldiers will. Return to the soldiers in the canyon and find the soldier with yellow hair (Hans). He will return with you to cut down the tree, making planks for a bridge using the machine. Grab the planks and stop by the trunk of the fresh-cut tree to find a Letter.

Return to Adrian. After he and the soldiers build a bridge, he'll allow you to follow him into the pass. 

This next area is a Reverse Escort Mission, because as the player you'll have to follow Adrian closely through the pass. If you know the route, it should be possible to reach the next areas without staying behind him; if you intend to use that for speedrunning, however, you'll have to learn the route yourself. There are many new and fun ways to die in these areas, so I recommend biting the bullet on this one and patiently following Adrian.

After the escort area, the player will come to an area where boulders are falling down the path. You'll have to cross without being touched by the boulders (as they would immediately crush Ana). This can be done by moving immediately and only left and right, utilizing gaps between the boulders and waiting for them to roll past when necessary. Keep in mind her movement will be very slow, but this does make it easier to keep from stepping too soon or too far. Here's a general guide to show the path:

From here, a cutscene will play where an earthquake divides the player's party, with Adrian, Ana, and Tomoya separated from the rest of the soldiers. How the player proceeds from here is the next critical choice. For the good ending, it is possible to select 'Leave' when speaking to Adrian; this will progress the scene into the next area. It is also possible to choose to wait before leaving, during which time the player can discover a tunnel to the other side of the divide. This will allow the player to speak to the rest of the soldiers (and to discover a hidden Letter, under a boulder to the right.)

 For the bad ending, return to Adrian after using the tunnel to reach the other side and select 'Tunnel'. From here, go back to the other side again and speak to Hans.

Depending on the player's choice, one of two quick cutscenes will play, and then the player will advance to the next area. 

ProTip: The Achievement "Responsible Ax" confirms you've hit the good ending trigger.
