Beyond the Code: Player Stats and a Smoother Journey

So, with all the frustrations recently with Gemini, I changed my approach. Instead of continuing to use the same chat for everything, I'm delegating, and the results have been surprising! I decided to keep going with the chat I've been using, but instead of allowing it to do any actual coding, I use it to build a prompt for a fresh and new chat.

Today, I started by describing this new process I'd be using. Then I went into detail about what I wanted to accomplish. After a few prompts Gemini seemed to have everything I wanted ready. In the main chat I requested it output a prompt to supply a new chat to prepare it for what was coming. I supplied the relevant, related scripts to the new chat as well.

Then I had it output full instructions to give the other chat. I did have an issue with the new chat adding it's own internal markup again. I really don't know why it does that from time to time, but I was able to work around it. It also took a couple of iterations to get the new player stat manager up and working right. And in the end, I still had to make some minor corrections to the code myself.

I fed the generated script to the back to the main chat, to have it verify that everything we discussed had been done, and it hadn't been completely implemented correctly. So more prompts were generated, and updates made. But overall, the process was extremely smooth. Especially so when I realized I had left out one major thing I wanted to implement. I prompted the main chat with what was missing, it helped me develop the prompt for the scripting chat, and that chat made the necessary changes. Today, there was no "Something went wrong". Not even once!

Then, once I was happy with everything, I tested it. And for as much as I could verify, everything works the way I want. Everything is ready for the next steps. This new approach may be a little more complicated, but it's also less frustrating. I'm hopeful that this will continue to work. And I feel great about the way this game is progressing.

I am really excited for the day that this is built enough to share with the world!
