Widgets, Widgets Everywhere

Widgets are certainly something that I have been dealing with recently so lets talk about that shall we.

To start off with, TA DA the main menu is done at least for now. Since save games are not yet available it simply has an option for Credits, Quit, and New Game. Which is great because I also got the credits up and going. what a journey that has been. Before that I also got the name of the game to properly have an outline which is great since I couldn't figure it out the entirety of last week and happened to just come across it while working on the button for credits go figure. I will also add in some basic animations later down the line along with audio since right now it is quite quiet and then all you have is your thoughts.

Anyways the Credits menu was honestly both extremely easy and right out hard to accomplish. What I mean by that is that over 90% of the work was done within roughly half an hour to an hour but the last part getting it to run its animation so that the credits move took way longer than it ever should, roughly 4-5 hours of just testing and testing over and over again. The worst part was when it worked at one point and then seemed to suddenly stop working which threw me for quite the loop. Found out I was just being silly and forgot to tell the code to also say hi to its blueprint cousin and set my animation proper.  What you see in the second image under NativeConstruct where it says super was something I simply forgot about for a very long time. :/ Oh well at least it all worked out in the end.  Also the video clip you can watch the animation, to be honest there are still problems however those can get fixed also the silence will be fixed in a later patch!

I was also tasked with setting up a character selector and I did not have the time to fully do all of that so I came up with a solution. The illusion of choice, part of this is just due to the functionality not being there most of it is due to that it wouldn't matter regardless since I don't have a second player character. I then needed art for this idea of pure genius and went to my ever trusty mspaint. I want to start off with I am not an artist and two mspaint is not a very in-depth software so I made due with what I got, enjoy!

Peak art I know and the buttons are the illusion of choice which is eerily similar to certain systems in games I play. While I would have love to get both systems fully functioning I was out attending a wedding, which means I didn't have a ton of time to get all the work I wanted to done. Overall though this week has been very productive. See you next week peps and stay safe!
