The Problem/Cons
This Week was a lot of fun with me and the New Camera System for Bleeding Edge Brawl. There was a lot of moment that had my brain wrapping and plus with some stuff happening with me in the my personal life that made things a lot of more for the turn. This Week One of my tasks and goals was to Implemented and changed the Old Camera System that we had and change it into a system that felt more close to the original 2D Side Scroller Brawler Games. But one of thing that was a huge con for me was a lot of critical thinking into the math of how I'm going to calculate how far the Camera Can Travel into certain rooms while retooling the original Camera Event Trigger Box that I had backlogged for a couple of builds until now, while also having to deal with being Team Lead and making sure everyone stays on track. Even though it was good process as to the video that I Got below , Unfortunately, the movement of the camera wasn't to my like as it felt limited to where the movement was only horizontal and not vertical or angling the camera to where the player can see more in this 2.5D Space and realizing this had my head spinning like if I was on a Galvatron Rides in those Amusement Parks.
How It was Going a Week before:
The Solution/Pros
But after Weeks of Pain and calculations, It turns out with a little bit of reminding of myself of a little bit of Linear Algebra and I've added Enums and a new Struct to allow the Camera to either move in one direction or in both directions. I also set it to where the Camera is always looking at the player on the Pitch Axis. Maybe later in the future I might add in where the camera can also look at the player in the yaw Direction, but for now i think from what I've gotten with this new Camera System was something I can be more proud of looking back. It was a definite big pro of seeing this thing come together.
How It's Going Now:
In Conclusion, the cons were of course trying to figure out how to implement it. Once, I've nailed down my design and the implementation is working, easily the best thing is seeing it work, it might not be Triple A quality, but it most certainly is one of the best work I've done in Game dev. Thank you so much for reading this Blog! See y'all in the next one!
