I just released a little narrative dice minigame for settling public challenges in tabletop RPGs. It's called Last One Standing and it's a simple set of procedures that I've been using for a while at my table. It does a great job resolving conflicts in a big dramatic way. One of my design goals was to keep it simple enough that it doesn't require a bunch of explanation, which would slow down the scene. I wanted something that keyed off the typical D20 roll, though I ended up using 2D10 to create a bell curve and make the spread a little tighter in order to increase the drama. In fact, that was a secondary goal of mine: to inject as much drama as possible! Underdog victories and surprise upsets should be possible, but not too random or sudden. I've been happy with the results so I decided it was time to release it.
