Anniversary of the start of BHn't development! (Devlog 1)

Anniversary of the start of development of BHn't!

What's up, everyone?

Honestly, i also didn't expect to take so long making Bullet Helln't, but it's still something i feel really proud of. Before this project, i always had the bad habit of leaving everything without finishing, but i'm glad that changed!

Since its the anniversary of the start of the project, i will share with you some curiosities, images and cut content of the game! Don't expect anything too serious tho (and also, im not english, so bare with me).

Curiosities and cut content!

-To start, the first enemy ever made was a little silly turret (or glass bottle idk), and i called it:

Maurice.

Why is it called Maurice? For the same reason Rodrigo has its name: it was funny to me. Now, Maurice's function was merely as a test to emit bullets and test their rotation, and being the foundation of what Rodrigo was going to be.

-Originally, the game was going to have smaller enemies first, and then it would have a boss. Before the idea were discarded for not having enough time, i made the sprite of an enemy: Trigun!

Now, Trigun had three guns (hence the name), and even though i like the design, it didn't have that much potential for being it's own boss.

-There was going to be an enemy parody of a certain cyberpunk character, whose main attacks were using his triple shot, as well as just blatantly falling from the sky. He was going to be the second boss, but he needed a lot of animations to work, and it was fundamentally a really hard oponent to make. His name was Abam Smosher.

-But we couldn't talk about BHn't without talking about the star: Rodrigo! Here's one of the very first drafts of Rodrigo, really unfinished.

-To end this section, i'll share one of the very first images of the prototype of the game! Originally the block was going to be rectangular, but it made a LOT of problems for some reason, so i decided to make it a square instead. Also, the bullets were vastly different.

Now the game looks way better in my opinion.

And now, the second section!

What am i working on currently?

Thanks for asking!

A month ago i started learning Godot, and ended up loving it a lot more than Unity! So much so that the development of my new game is coming together really nicely! Is a long project. And i mean loooong project.

What's the game about?

The game will be about urban exploration, where you explore an abandoned mall, and uncovering the mystery of the architect of the mall. It will be a very narrative driven game, inspired by games like Silent Hill and Resident Evil, but bringing my own touch!

I can't tell a lot more yet, even though i have a lot of things planned, and i don't think this is the time nor place to talk more about it, but it will be a giant leap from what i've made, but i'm confident that i can make it. Godot makes things 1000 times easier, and it just clicks way more with me and how i approach things. And also, i am not alone on this!

I'll have an artist helping me during the development of the game to make this vision come true, but it's still too early to talk about it. Right now i'm very motivated about this project.

One last thing i can share are two sprites of the protagonist. They might be the final sprites, they might not.

Here's the protagonist: Axel!

I hope you enjoyed this read! I won't upload these devlogs frequently tho, only whenever i have actually something to say or i advanced a lot in the development of the game.
