I hadn't thought about this in a very long time but since so many people new to this are finding it... You cannot save on the browser version, or the .exe versions.
Why? Because GB Studio, the tool used to make Life is 2-D, does support saving technically but would not save the choices made. There was nothing I could do about this, sadly. You would reload, and the game would get unplayably confused as none of the choices you made would be saved. EG "Did the player report Nathan?" -> "I don't know" -> Game completely locks up because it doesn't know which path to proceed down.
And, since it was quite common for Gameboy titles, even lengthy ones, to demand being played through in one sitting, that was something I just had to accept couldn't be done and consider annoyingly authentic.
SO. If you need to save, find an appropriate emulator for the platform you play on (Retroarch, which exists for most devices, or BGB64 for Windows, etc) run the freely provided ROM files linked in every Episode's page, and use the quicksave/quickload features of those.
