Forest Of Blood And Bone Devlog 2: MONSTERS!!!!!!!!!!

Hello There, Snails And Slugs

Guess who is back from the void? Me! The project went on hiatus for a bit because of school and burnout. But i'm back baybeeee! This time with an announcement and some silly little creatures to show you. A lot of work went into the beasties and foes. A huge problem with mainstream TTRPGS such as DnD is that while there are a wide variety of foes, very few of them feel super distinct. So, a large part of designing creatures for this game was to make them feel interesting and alive. Of course, we still have some fairly uninteresting foes, but we're trying our best to make as many unique creatures as possible. Oh yeah, we. I'm lucky enough to have acquired the help of a few friends to help with lore and artwork. Anyway, without further adieu, meet one of our work in progress monsters- the carrion snail!

As you can see, the tactics, finisher,  and salvage spaces have not been filled, but we will still cover what they do. The "Tier Two Brute" shows the creature's tier and classification. The tier indicates how well it would fare against a party of players. Tier two is a suitable and powerful foe for low level parties, while making a nice and moderately challenging filler fight for higher level groups. The classification "Brute" indicates a general profile of the creature's abilities and how to play it effectively. Next to the snail's armor is its wards, a stat for both players and monsters to measure their abilities in resisting magical attacks. As you can see, monsters have hit locations. For instance, attacks targeting our snaily friend deal -40% damage (rounded up). Just below it is a line proclaiming  "DL 13 Forgotten Gods Knowledge". This indicates roll of 13 or higher using the specified skill allows players to glean some information from its lore section and a general idea of some of its abilities. The finisher section, currently left blank shows the creature's finisher. When monsters roll 20s, there is an optional rule to make it so that they don't deal extra damage and instead deliver a powerful unique attack, proving fatal to creatures who don't succeed in an opposed ability score test, hence the term "finisher". The tactics section details the creature's tactics in battle, based on their disposition and intelligence. Finally, notable salvage will list unique salvageable parts to steal from your deceased foes, monster hunter style.
