The future of Chambersoft! (games, twitter, patreon!?)

First of all, THANK YOU!!! Thank you for all the love and comments and fanart and tumblr asks, thank you so much for supporting us in the wake of APS' release. It's meant everything to us, and has made every struggle worth it a thousand times over. I can say personally that I have never felt more accomplished and fulfilled as an artist as I have making and releasing APS with Ruined.

Now, as an aside, who are these people in the celebration picture? Where the fuck are Pan and Amy? Relax, if you played the game you know where they are. These two, new, fancy sets of characters are from our two, active, in development projects! (Designs very subject to change)

On the left we have two of the main characters in what we're temporarily calling "Memory". Memory is a horror visual novel following a sleazy, amateur journalist chasing a mysterious, untraceable crime wave.
All around the dreary city headless bodies appear over night, littering the streets, crumpled and bloody. These bodies are completely unidentifiable; DNA, documentation, eye witnesses, possible family and friends, all obscured in an impenetrable haze, like the victim never existed at all before dying.
Your memories, identity, relationships; your past, present and future, all erased in an instant. Is it possible to die if you never existed in the first place? What would it be like to remember somebody nobody else can, somebody you loved?

On the right we have Olivia and Emile respectively, the main characters of the visual novel currently titled "Heaven". You may have seen spare sketches and concept work of these two on both ruinedpowers' twitter and chamberlilium here and there, but overall we're looking to keep exact plot details and form on the down-low.
For the gist of the project itself though, we'll be bringing the same brand of dramatic, anxiety-ridden horror yuri that we served hot with APS. It's been extremely exciting to finally get the ball rolling on their story, something that's been brewing in Ruined's head for some time now. It'll be a longer-form project of ours, and is looking to be substantially longer than APS.

I did want to do a quick plug and mention that I recently contributed as an assistant writer for Madocallie's Spooktober 2023 entry - Protoviolence! It's a prequel to her team's visual novel "Malviolence", which I highly recommend checking out as well. You'll probably want to play that first!

You can check out Malviolence here - https://madocallie.itch.io/malviolence
...and you can check out the Spooktober 2023 jam entry here - https://madocallie.itch.io/protoviolence

We're also here to drop this, a Chambersoft twitter! General updates irt our past and future projects will all be going there, along with additional art n posts and going-ons with me and Ruined.

One last thing before we wrap up, we're considering a Patreon! We're going to be posting a poll on the Chambersoft twitter to gauge interest very soon, so keep an eye out on that! The focus will be on supporting further game development, with exclusive art and behind the scenes content as a little incentive. Maybe some art requests or raffles, we'll see!

Thank you so much, one more time, for all the past, current, and future support!

-Chambers and Ruined

and now, a quick post-signature from ruinedpowers:

hello itch.io followers of the chambersoft webpage. i hope you're all well, and i hope that reading the above words excited you for what we have coming up next. i did want to echo the same sentiments of chambers' thank yous and acknowledgments when it came to reactions, comments, fanart, asks, and everything that came in terms of a response to APS. it was an amazing project to have a part of pouring my heart into, and the writing experience is something i can't express enough gratitude for. i especially want to thank rara the snake and the vncup team for kicking the two of us into high gear, as well as the judges that provided their feedback post-ceremony.

as chambers mentioned above, Heaven has been a pet project of mine for a good year now, and the topics explored have been deeply personal to me and something i've wanted to tackle with my art for a long time. it wasn't until making APS that i realized it'd be a best fit as a visual novel, blending the drama of reading words on a screen with the joy of seeing a picture sometimes. i'm very nervous at the prospect of being the quote-unquote "lead" of this project, especially seeing it's looking to be on a larger scope than APS, but i know i'm in great company. it's very special, and i hope you look forward to it.

thank you again for reading this post, especially with me all the way down here. MemoryVN is looking to be chambers' "solo album", and from what she tells me it's set to be a wonderful quick-and-dirty execution of ideas. i'm very very excited for it, as other things i've been told have given me chills and make me jump up and down a little bit. i'll do the soundtrack if she asks of course.
