Devlog # 10: Thoughts and Plans for 2024

This month of September seems to have gone by super fast huh? With October now around, I want to bring your attention to the 2023 Queer Halloween Stories Bundle that's running right now!

For the same price of a AAA game, you can get over 100 projects that are horror and Halloween themed and support queer arts! My game Making a Monster is in this bundle, and it would be a huge help if you are able to purchase the bundle or even spread the word about it. You'd not only be helping me, but also helping other people create stuff they want to create.

You can purchase it here! You can also purchase the $10+ version here!

As for what I've done in September… Personal stuff has cropped up again and that has slowed down my workflow. But I have a steady workflow going at least! I've been doing a lot of script editing and GUI design and even drawing stuff I want to release in the future~

But this time with no background art again. I'm trying not to stress out about the fact that I can't seem to make my own deadlines, but I have to step back and realize I'm actually doing a lot in the background. I'm a solo dev! And some of these projects take literal months or years to make!

Unfortunately the way the internet is nowadays is to keep posting your stuff on a regular basis and there's some stuff I either can't post yet or voluntarily do not post. It also feels odd to say "I did a lot actually!" and then not post it because it seems like I'm lying since I can't post proof of it lol. I didn't realize it until I went on a mini vacation, of how my brain gets so attatched to performance and numbers on posting things that it curbs my willingness to do anything creative when I can't actively post.

That being said, I actively choose to not show screenshots of game WIPs because there's something about being crushed under the pressure of expectations when I haven't even finished it yet. It's undone me before and caused me to not work on my games, so I'd rather post them when they're at a point that I know I can finish the game. But the braincell that really like seeing numbers go up hates that I'm not posting anything! So, well. Fuck dude lmao.

It's hard to unwire, but cutting back on socials have really helped as well as that aforementioned mini vacation. Thinking about this has made me realize that perhaps instead of starting monthly backgrounds now, I should prepare them for the next year instead. I have a lot on my plate and perhaps I should just take my time to prepare and plan instead of scrambling around and spreading myself thin on too many things and feeling guilty for not being able to get one thing done, despite getting progress across the board.

So the rest of this year will be spent prepping! Not only monthly backgrounds to be restarted on the end of January, but also projects I would love to formally announce but cannot yet hehe. As for my goal for October, I'm hoping to get some editing and writing done on top of all the prepping.

With that said, I want to give a big thank you for everyone that's supported me so far! I wouldn't have gotten this far with my dev and creative endeavors if it wasn't for you all leaving lovely comments and ratings and donations too! If you're financially able to you can support me (and other queer devs) with the Queer Halloween Stories Bundle or even checking out my Ko-fi! Thank you all so much and thank you for reading! Hope you all have a lovely day and a lovely spook month~!
