During the last milestone for this current class period i wanted to get a roll implemented. This should be a relatively simple addition. Import the animation, ensure that the animation actually moves the player a decent distance and then enable root motion in order to move the player with the animation. The issue arose the second i clicked enable root motion in the animation options panel. This is what the roll animation looks like at about the midpoint with no root motion.
And this is what it looks like with root motion enabled.
As you can see the 2nd image the character is completely flipped. Instead of rolling and taking the root with the animation it seems like the player is stuck on a pole and flailing their arms around.
The solution for this issue wasn't as much a solution as it was a decision. After about an hour and a half of searching for a solution i realized that i was spending a large amount of time on a problem that wasn't critical to the success of the game and decided to move on to more pressing matters. I put a pin in the roll mechanic and decided to come back to it when i had more time to devote to the issue.
