This past week had been the final stretch of production for us. It was all about tidying up loose ends and making sure the game is as bug-free as possible. Cutting off unused codes that could have caused issues, and wrapping up unpolished features was tedious, but we did what we got to do to finish up the game for the showcase in class.
Everything went well until Sunday night...where we got ourselves the third Git merge conflict. Anil and Muhammad had to lose about an hour of work, but I was able to salvage everyone else's progress....a friendly reminder to everyone to commit often. Never knew how much time you might have safe for that 15 seconds of committing.
After Anil had completed the level rework, Muhammad implemented the new lighting changes, we handed the project off to Patryk who would finish up the ending cutscene and submit the game build. For myself, I had to scrape the idea of a polished Main Menu screen which, initially, would feature a dirty environment at first, then feature a cleansed one after the player has completed the game, just to send home the message of the environment issue one last time. That whole thing was scraped because of time constraints, and I was as sad as I am happy to finally be done with everything.
As for the showcase presentation itself, I am super happy that the game was received positively. "Croakster, my boy" will now be remembered as a meme that put the whole classroom to tears : )
