Devlog 3

At this point, I can confidently say that this team is the most functional and productive team I have ever been a part of through every design practice course. All the features and game mechanic that we have planned out are now implemented, playtested, and iterated on to the best they can be within the given time.

Even though I was a bit worried about all the elements that didn't feel "right" in our last sprint, the team was able to tackle all of them within one week and got rid of all the blockers that were presented in the last build. My tasks were mostly handling the bugs and mechanics with unintended consequences such as a Speed Bug where every time the player talks to an NPC, their speed got increased more and more until it becomes a Sonic game. Anyhow, because we were quite organized and modular with our code, fixing them was light work.

Swampside is now functional and also really fun to play(bias I know...). It was a really shocking and awesome moment when all the small vfx, UI polish, and sound come together. They finally made our project feel like a game. I think that this process of adding "the sauce" onto our game is where we are having the most fun.

Now I know I cannot wrap up this devlog without thanking my team for their efforts. Everyone fulfilled their roles perfectly and beyond. We all cared about the completion of the projects and we know we can rely on each other to adapt when the situation arises (merge conflict....they happened despite our best effort). I couldn't thank them enough for making this team project such a great experience!
