Hey all!
We hope you all had an amazing summer! I want to start this by saying sorry for the lack of updates on INTERTWINED as of recent, we've had our hands full with... Something else, so let's talk about it! We as a team recently decided it would be a good idea to release at least one game before we get INTERTWINED to the finish line, and what better excuse is there to do just that than a game jam? Over the past week or so, we've been working hard on our game jam project, and we couldn't be happier with how it's turned out so far. For now, let's call this game Project MEL. The game is deep into development, with the coding already coming along at a good pace.
Let's start with the story. While we aren't going to share the full plot of MEL, what I CAN say is that it's a digital horror game including our very own mascot Miya! It's an idea that was thought of a decent while ago, but was brought up recently and became the game we decided to make. Being able to have Miya be the centre focus of our first game is such a satisfying turn of events, and we made sure she'd be presented in the most authentic way possible. In the week we've been working on this game, we've already finished the outline, the script and fully edited the script! We're really happy with the story and we can't wait to share more when we officially announce the game with a release date sometime in the next week or two :)
As for asset development, things couldn't be going better. Our artists and musicians have kicked themselves into overdrive and produced some mind-blowing assets already! I won't be showing off anything here, as I want to keep basically everything a secret for now. but we already have the sprites and UI completed, with BGs and CGs right around the corner. On a more personal note, I myself actually pulled out my graphic design and early 2000's PC knowledge to create the desktop assets! I'm quite proud with how some of them have come out. Speaking of the early 2000's, our game's entire aesthetic is based around the early-mid 2000's, which is what Miya too is based off. This game is a perfect visual representation of us as a studio, so I hope people like what they see!
That's all for now! Over all, it's been a really exciting and productive first week. Next week I'm hoping to be able to show more off, but for now, I'll leave you with this. Have a good day/night :)
