Thanks for checking out my itchfunding!
Recently I wrote a 36 page series of adventures, Adventures in the Frontier Lands, to go with a hex map I made for the Fill the Hex Jam and had a great time doing it. I wrote the project to be used with Basic Fantasy 4th Edition, a game I've been excited to create something for ever since the latest version went under a CC-BY SA license. And, I have enjoyed how Chris Gonnerman makes all the Basic Fantasy materials available free as pdfs and at low cost for print. The one thing I'm missing for this project is some original art!
The goal of my ichfunding project is to fund some original art for the project. I have an artist lined up, Gabe Phayt of Spacerarian has an art style that I believe would be a great fit. My goal with this funding is to commission him to create a cover piece and a few smaller interior pieces, and make sure he gets compensated for his time, effort, and fantastic art. He and I have already had conversations about this, taken a look at some other art for Basic Fantasy books, and have some ideas in mind to keep with the style. And I think he will be able to create something that would be super cool!
Then, I will be able to add the art and create a print option, to be through Lulu, that will be sold close to "at cost" in the true Basic Fantasy spirit.
I have already put many hours into this project, writing and editing, and creating some maps. You will find a hex map with different terrain types and random monster tables to go with them, along with a couple tables to generate parties that characters can encounter.
Additionally, there are some quest locations with different intriguing dungeons, filled with monsters and challenges to encounter and overcome. I try to put a lot of thought into my dungeons, trying to make them interesting locations, with something unique and also something familiar. I hope you enjoy them!
While designed with Basic Fantasy in mind, the adventures are easily adapted to lots of Fantasy RPGs. I used only monsters and have page references specific to the Basic Fantasy 4th Edition rulebook, but the monsters and information contained in that book are all very similar to many OSR games. You can adapt it to another system if you want to, with minimal work (I would think!).
Please know that a hundred percent of any funds raised from this endeavor will go towards the mentioned purchase of art pieces, directly to the artist. If for some reason I'm able to raise more than planned, I will simply purchase more art for this or future projects. I believe in supporting the local artist and supporting people directly, whenever possible. And as a little tiny bonus, you'll get all the projects I have for sale on my itch.io page.
Thank you for your contribution!
