If you have wood in your inventory (don't have inventory open to do this) then make sure you are standing close to your fire pit and then look at it and make sure the little white cursor dot is pointing right at the fire, you will notice white text is displayed and if you press "E" you will load your fire pit with wood. You can load 5 wood pieces into it and it last quite a long time. If you have uncooked meat you can do the same thing but you have to move your little white cursor up a tiny bit until it reads load item or food I think. This will load your meat to be cooked. Don't walk away because it doesn't take meat to long to cook and it will burn, and unless you want charcoal (sometimes you do)  that would be a bad thing. Hope this helps.

I believe you can carry a torch to keep you warm and if need be build a quick little shack or fire pit to warm your self up a bit before carrying on...

I agree with you, if you make the game to simple then where is the challenge? I have died several times and lost my stuff and yes I was a little irked but then it made me pay attention to where I was. I have little to complain about towards this game, it is unique  and fun. Sure rains a lot though :)

Yes it is an addicting game and I know exactly what you mean. I actually got so involved with the game I forgot to have my dinner in real life and discovered I was quite hungry. Maybe I have discovered a new weight loss scheme :)

If you know how to build in this game you will learn that in order to stop your house from degrading you have to make sure you reinforce your house. For example if you look at the outside corners of your house you will notice a seem where the two walls meet. If you stick those short wooden blocks in the corners from the ground up to the roof it will make that corner secure and strong. Do this for all outside corners of your house and that will solve your problem. For a basic house or shack I use a 3 by 5 floor plan. Using full wall pieces for the lower section of your wall and half wall pieces placed on top of those makes a perfect wall height. You can then stick those short wood blocks in all for corners and that makes everything nice and sturdy. You can do the same for your window openings as well. Also just look at the pre-built houses or cabins in the game to get an idea on how it is built. Quite simple when you just look at the thing instead of getting poopy face about it... Hope this helped you.  ( just a fellow player)
