Preset Requests and Ideas

Since this synth has recently taken over as my go-to draft (and sometimes even my main) synth, I'll be creating plenty of presets for this in the future to be released as either Factory ROM expansions or additional expansions. Feel free to post your ideas here and who knows, you might see it come into fruition in a later update! ;)

Hi there,

I really love your presets. Very good sounds for modern EDM or other electronic stuff. The synth is very good too, really cuts through the mix. I have been playing with this synth and Altitude demo for a while and i think they are the best synths for Linux. Sounds even better than Vital and Hive (the only 2 good synths that i found for big unison leads on Linux..well, there is Zebra too).  Can get modern, big unison leads in a few minutes, and with a small amount of post processing, they sound really good. The reverb is even better than the Vital one and surely better than Hive one.

I would like more leads ad if possible more attack basses from you, if you please. I have done some myself, but are not as good as yours. If you like i can share them so you can see what i mean.

Altitude is a great one, but i don`t know if i should buy it...i don`t think this project will last long, especially it`s clap only, no vst, and feels a little abandoned already (no updates since may). I`ll think about it a little more..maybe who knows, i`ll take the risk.

Awesome, glad you like them! I agree that Altitude is the most capable and best sounding synth of the ones you've listed.

You'll be happy to know that I've been hard at work at creating an ambitious gigantic preset bank for hard dance electronic music covering basses, leads, chords, pads, effects, and screeches - aiming for well over 500 patches! This will be coming sometime next year, but unsure when as I'm balancing other work and life as well. Just know that it's coming - I advise you hop into nakst's Discord server (https://discord.gg/aHnUxztsVe) if you haven't already. I share presets there for Altitude and Apricot every now and then.

I can assure you that Altitude is well worth its weight in gold. It has quickly become the sole primary synth in all of my music, only reaching towards my Virus TI or Serum every now and then for specific sounds. The no-VST situation is a non-issue (see here: https://github.com/free-audio/clap-wrapper), and even though there hasn't been any *public* updates for quite some time, I assure you that nakst has been working on Altitude beta updates that I have been testing and giving feedback/suggestions on. As I consider Altitude as a very stable and mature piece of software, I rarely ever feel the need (or even the want for that matter) to implement large changes. If there's a bug to be fixed, rest assured that it will be attended to - so as long as it's reported properly!

Further addressing the concerns of a lack of updates - it's quite normal for good software and hardware not to receive updates for extended periods of time. Just look at the Virus TI - although it hasn't been updated in several years (also feeling very unsupported in recent years) and people have their issues with it, many producers and sound designers STILL hold it in high regard and use the synth every day in their work. As a professional producer and sound designer, I could get by with Altitude as my sole synth with not only confidence but comfort as well. Its workflow speed and flexibility are quite unmatched in my opinion. You won't be disappointed with the investment.

I agree with you that is not much to do now to make Altitude better...maybe wavetable support(that would be the cherry on top). I was disappointed at first when i saw that i couldn`t arrange effects by drag and drop, but then i realized that it remembers the settings so if i want to rearrange them, i just have to delete the fx and put it somewhere else with the same settings. And the low freq/high freq routing is just so nice.

Right now i am doing layers out of 3-4 Apricot instances to get big, huge stuff and it sounds so great. It`s not very good at brazillian kind of basses, but with Altitude i managed to make some pretty good ones... Even tried some wubs and got some decent results as well (cross fm is very good)...couldn`t save any ,so the next step would be to buy the damn thing :)).

Looking forward to your presets pack release next year. I don`t use Discord , i am pretty old :) , but i`ll be patient and wait for your official release.

Thanks for the very good work..both yours and Nakst`s team. I hope this synths will become the next Dune, or even better, the next Sylenth.
