I love a lot of what this game is doing, enough that I persisted and eventually escaped ... but then there was footage of a farmhouse and the game crashed. I reloaded, clicked Continue, but it was back to the start. There was no way I could face going through the beginning all over again and then possibly just get hit by another crash and again lose all the progress. I always think there should be a manual save option to avoid this, or a menu option to jump to any chapter, or at least more frequent autosaves. And if you achieve anything, autosave immediately, to avoid this kind of thing. It's a real shame, it took a lot of attempts to escape. I know lack of saving is intended to make it feel higher pressure/immersion, but it often has the opposite effect, such as here, where it can completely pull you out of the game and put you off going back.

So, if you don't experience a crash - this is like a souped up version of the previous games with better graphics and some fun ideas, and you'll love it! But if it crashes and loses progress then it really undermines any attempt to immerse yourself, which is a great shame. You just have to trust the players! Give them a level select or option to save - if they spam it, that's up to them. (This is a comment aimed at all PC games, not just this one!) I'll watch a walkthrough to see what came next, but would have preferred to play it for myself.

Update: I switched to Windows and managed to complete it. Excellent music and atmosphere, it takes you back to the feeling you got the first time you watched certain horror films. I added a star to the rating after completing the last two chapters. *****
