I loved the art and the concept. The idea is very cute and the picture at the end is heartwarming. I think perhaps some kind of UI tracking the objects you've picked up out of the number you need to collect, and some explanation of what's going on could help. Even just in-game, rather than just explicitly stating "collect the things." For example: "The monsters are all around us, under our beds, in the closets, and peeking in the windows. Take on the task of collecting objects while keeping your fear under control."
