Howdy y'all. o/
So I wanted to make this for a question but figured I should post how I feel about it whilst I am at it since feedback is always good for the dev/s. ^u^

So I played this a while back now, pretty close to when it was first published on itch and I must say I fell in love with this project immediately.
It really captures Zombies in a very nostalgic but also weirdly different way mixing a bunch of different features from all games and throwing them into one game.
The maps, guns, gameplay mechanics and just the overall polish is genuinely impressive and is worth playing.
Although I say a lot of good, I am sad though that there are many features I would love to see implemented that have yet to be implemented ( may come in a future update ) like the Bo3 Sliding for example ( which as well imo is the best sliding out of all the CoDs ), or double PaP etc.
I also have to touch up on the store feature, I love how this feature returned from the old Black Ops Zombies Ios game.
Alas I cannot hate and do not support hate for this project since this is still phenomenal and is much better than some of the newer titles released by the actual CoD Studios. qnq
In its current state I would have to rate it somewhere between a 7.5 and a 8.5 out of 10.
It still has room to grow as a project and hope to see it improve further and not go backwards like actual CoD.

Now the question I have, well.... Actually its four.
So when I first played this I remember there being the map 'Zombies in Spaceland' but after finalling returning to the game I find out its no longer listed in the game which is concerning and for a few reasons.

- Is Spaceland gonna return or is this doomed to not make its way back into the game?
I genuinely loved playing on even just the small portion of the map since its vibe and aesthetic was all around amazing but now that its gone I can't help but to feel concerned about the full Spaceland map release.

- Second question, do you plan to add all Treyarch Zombie Maps **Eventually**?
Two of my fave maps are disgustingly Tag Der Toten and Die Maschine, I know they ain't the best for many reasons but I genuinely enjoyed those maps and for them pretty much being limited to their respective games is a shame.
I don't mind playing Bo4 but its no Bo3, I love playing Cold War however Cold War is very buggy and un-optimised (more especially because it was a live service game that no longer gets any attention).
I personally think Die Maschine would play exceptionally well with this game and how the game feels, with Tag Der Toten I actually don't know how that would be.

- And a Third Question, will there be Zombies Chronicles maps + The Giant to be added eventually?
I was playing this games Der Riese for the first time and noticed it was the WaW/Bo1 version which is fine, and all honesty peak aesthetics however it also raises the question of whether we'll be seeing maps like The Giant, or even the Zombies Chronicles versions of all the other maps.
I genuinely think the Bo3 remakes are the prettiest versions and it would be a bit of a shame if we don't see them make their way into this game, however even though a shame is very understandable since thats just doubling up on something thats already in the game on technicality.

- And last question sorry. When GOAT!? Call of the Dead. XDD
No rush obviously but I love that map and more so the Bo3 custom, one of my most favoured maps of all time.
Sadly on the tier list it doesn't count since it's a Bo3 Custom Map however the Bo1 version is pretty good and high in my list as well, super keen on seeing that one added. ^u^

Developer

Hiya, thanks for the kind words. To answer your questions:

Space land will return, I took it out as it was incomplete and I wanted to redo it and I am currently working on it, seeing the feedback from people makes me want to add the starting room back but far more true to the original.

As for every zombies map, I plan to do as many as I can but when it comes to bo4 and Cold War, I don’t think it’s feasible. Not only are the maps horrendously optimised, having absolutely absurd material counts and draw calls, they also use Super Terrain which is CODs new way of doing terrain and landscapes. Super terrain is impossible to port over at the moment, so maps would be missing geometry.

While BO3 doesn’t have the super terrain issue, its maps are still badly optimised, not to the extent of BO4-CW, but it’s still rough. Treyarch just slap decals on everything for blending and layering meanwhile other games take the correct approach and use material layering which is vastly better for performance and looks better too. I do not plan to do the chronicles maps atm, but perhaps I’d give the giant a go though as it’s a bit different.

As for call of the dead, when I finish up ascension and Five which I’m currently working on I will probably do that next, for custom maps I won’t be ripping bo3 custom maps but I am able to do WAW custom maps, they’re ancient and essentially abandoned so I think adding them to Project Aether is cool, I’ll focus on challenge maps first like cheese cube and octagonal ascension.
