james recommended this to me, said he helped with it a bit.
its not my type of game at all. i ordinarily never play platformers or retro games, BUT. this music (and the aesthetic of the world) is keeping me hooked and interested far longer than i ordinarily would be.
some gameplay feedback (if you want to keep in mind the type of person that isnt familiar with this genre):
-controls are VERY confusing and there isn't much in the way of an ingame tutorial/explanation - i tried space bar'ing in the phone booth labelled tutorial but it kept spinning me around and i have no idea what that means. maybe its the norm for this genre, but i was expecting interact to be a mouse click or E or F, not spacebar.
-weapon swap UI is very lacking
-id have really benefited from a brief but proper tutorial or explanation of what i'd see and need to do. i got really confused at the different colored gems and doors until the world changed to darkness
-the camera stuff is awesome but i wish i could just look around with my mouse. that said, it's a mechanic i haven't seen executed in this way and was pleasantly surprised at the first train section when i realized i could rotate the camera to see the other part of the puzzle i needed to complete
- the music and aesthetic are AMAZING. the rave style club bop is so groovy. you really fucking nailed the aesthetic of this game and the world. the whole sunlight moonlight stuff, the retro vibes, the small quirky characters (i loved the bathroom ghost guy who said he went out like a king)
im probably not gonna play it to the end but thats not an indication of dislike for the game. its pretty cool, very unique stylistically.
