Code of Conduct
While Tasjam aims to be a fun and creative event we are also community minded and want to make sure this event is safe and open to all. It is for this reason we have the following Code of Conduct that applies to all community interaction online and at all site locations. If you have further questions and comments regarding this, they can be sent through our Tasjam Feedback Form.
All attendees, speakers, sponsors and volunteers at our event are required to agree with the following code of conduct. Organisers and volunteers will enforce this code throughout the event. We are expecting cooperation from all participants to help ensuring a safe environment for everybody.
We honor all gender identities, races, sexualities, body types, economic backgrounds, abilities, religious beliefs and overall ways of human being, as we believe that diversity of experiences is key to successful collaborations.
Tasjam is committed to providing a friendly, safe, and welcoming environment for all, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, age, ability, appearance, ethnicity, national origin, citizenship, socioeconomic status, and religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices. We do not tolerate harassment of or from participants, observers, sponsors or volunteers. the following are not only guidelines for all those who participate in this community, but also enforced consequences of unacceptable behaviour.
Harassment includes, but is not limited to:
- Verbal comments that reinforce social structures of domination [related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion, technology choices.]
- Gender assumptions and policing: Do not assume gender. If you are unsure of someones preferred gender pronoun, address them by their name. They might tell you and if they don't, that is ok, too!
- Sexual images in public spaces
- Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following
- Harassing photography or recording
- Sustained disruption of others work and formalised parts of the event
- Inappropriate physical contact
- Unwelcome sexual attention
- Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behaviour
If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact an event volunteer as soon as you can.
Enforcement
Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately
Sponsors & Observers are also subject to the anti-harassment policy.
If a participant engages in harassing behaviour, event organisers retain the right to take any actions to keep the event a welcoming environment for all participants. This includes warning the offender or expulsion from the event.
Event organisers may take action to redress anything designed to, or with the clear impact of, disrupting the event or making the environment hostile for any participants.
We expect participants to follow these rules at all event venues and event-related social activities. We encourage and think participants should uphold this sort of respect for each other outside of event activities too.
Reporting
If someone makes you or anyone else feel unsafe or unwelcome, please report it as soon as possible. Harassment and other code of conduct violations reduce the value of our event for everyone. We want you to be happy at our event. People like you make our event a better place.
You can make a report either personally or anonymously.
Anonymous Report
You can make an anonymous report on our feedback or report forms.
We can't follow up an anonymous report with you directly, but we will fully investigate it and take whatever action is necessary to prevent a recurrence.
Personal Report
You can make a personal report by:
- Calling or messaging this phone number: 0479016279. This phone number will be continuously monitored for the duration of the event.
- Contacting an Organiser or volunteer, or even a mentor.
When taking a personal report, our volunteers will ensure you are safe and cannot be overheard. They may involve other event volunteers to ensure your report is managed properly. Once safe, we'll ask you to tell us about what happened. This can be upsetting, but we'll handle it as respectfully as possible, and you can bring someone to support you. You won't be asked to confront anyone and we won't tell anyone who you are.
Our team will be happy to help you contact site security, local law enforcement, local support services, provide escorts, or otherwise assist you to feel safe for the duration of the event. We value your attendance.
Reporting Grievances
If you feel you have been falsely or unfairly accused of violating this Code of Conduct, please notify a local organiser with a description of this grievance through the feedback form
