What did this game do well? (Answer in a few sentences)

  • 1) Nice sound and UI! 2) Very easy to get familiar with. The design of portal all players to play for a long time. 3) I am not sure if it's my illusion, I feel the positions of obstacles are random.
  • The pixel art is really good. I like the visual effect a lot.
  • The environment of the game was very well done. The animations and sounds were very impactful. The idea of the game was very interesting and it seems like a very fun sandbox to perform cool skating tricks.
  • The gameplay  is  new and fresh to me. At first, the player might feel a little bit confused but gradually he can become more experienced. Using different tricks to get over the obstacles can generate a lot of strategies.
  • Visual is so cute and the sound effect is the nice touch
  • The game is intriguing and easy to play. The animation is making this game more interesting. The strategy is smart. The music adds a nice touch and the expressive animations complement the game well and add a lot to the game -- it's also satisfying watching the tricks add up in the bottom and then seeing the high score. There's definitely a lot this game does well in terms of game feel and there's a lot of choices as to how to score points
  • Between the sounds and the visuals, the presentation makes the game really pop, especially since the game would not read well with minimalist shapes.

What could be done better? (Answer in a few sentences)

  • 1) If I get stuck by the red obstacle, and keep pressing left/right button, the score will rise infinitely. 2) More obstacles and random places. (Just a suggestion for further development. It's already good enough currently for a prototype.)
  • The interaction is confused and not straightforward ( for example, why using z for jump instead of spacebar? )
  • I wasn't really sure what to do or what was even possible. I think having a short tutorial of the mechanics or some form of visual aid would greatly help players have a better idea of how to manipulate the skater.
  • Is this a infinite game for higher score? Is there a way to win this game?
  • There is some bug that can be used to gain infinite score. Better if it can be fixed.
  • If I just keep jumping on a UFO I can get extremely high score, this can be fixed in the future.
  • I think a way to see how much you score after each set of tricks would be nice, as currently there's no way to tell how much you scored unless you beat your high score.

Also, there are a couple of ways to exploit for points that could be worked out (eg. getting caught on the side of the rail and being able to ollie infinitely for an insane amount of points)

  • I found two exploits: If you hold up and nose manual against an object, the score increases indefinitely. A potential fix for this would be not allowing nose manuals to count for points when the player is not moving horizontally.

Another exploit is that you can repeated move back and forth on a grind rail, and you will not only gain points indefinitely, but also be considered as having performed multiple tricks, which increases the score multiplicatively.

Fixable exploits aside,  I think that the game might feel better if it didn't take as long to charge up a jump -- because getting high enough jump to attempt some tricks took so long and did not feel rewarding enough, I played in a way that lead me to the exploits.
