  • Very nice execution. I think you made quite the good job on extra features like the settings options and the intro screen, very nice. You managed to create a complete game loop and adding some additions like soud, some animations and some effect so in this regard well done. The gameplay decision to use the snow was, in the end, a very nice tactical decision that makes the impact on your strategy so while the game was simple this small detail added depth. You mention some struggle on the path-finding. Unfortunately I don't have access to code but I suggest, if you haven't done already, to look about the A* (in your case A+) algorithm. As a prototype this is nice but as a game it lacks something. My suggestion is to continue working in the ideas you mentioned as an exercise and maybe add a level generation so instead of a progression based only on number of turns, you have also a progression based on how many level you complete.
  • The gameplay is simple but quite interesting. The AI of the enemy is a bit too basic and I wish there would be more different type of enemies. I liked the fast forward feature, it is very useful and smart. The feedback for action is basic but present so you know exactly what you have done this turn. Good game in general.
  • I think what you've made is a great achievement, and something you should be proud of. Some general feedback: 1. From your document, I really like the flow you took with the project. You came up with some ideas and then tweaked. You progressively added to your project and fixed issues as you went along (with some creative solutions), then balanced it at the end. Great! Its out of scope for this, but something to be mindful of would be to have playtest sessions with people to make sure you've got the balancing right and so you can understand what people are doing. Also devote a chunk of time at the end for bug fixing in your planning. Its better to have the time and not need it, than to have many bugs with no time to fix them. 2. You've got a nice menu to greet people as they open the game this was good to see. This is the first thing that people see when playing a game, but is usually forgotten by people, glad to see you didn't. Some minor things: Settings usually has an apply and/or revert option, especially when dealing with resolution. Your hover state can be difficult to distinguish. Its okay when you have a mouse, but if you have keyboard/gamepad navigation then its something you need to be mindful of. 3. I like that you added a fast forward option, however be careful putting it on the same key as end turn. I had multiple cases where I accidentally skipped my turn and was killed. Maybe switch it to another key or add a toggle button in the UI. 4. Its fine for the aim of the game to be to survive for as long as possible, but then you need a high score table so you can compare how you did with yourself and other people. You should be proud of what you have achieved, this was a well polished game. Great job!
